As the Data Governance Senior Specialist, you are responsible for supporting the Data Governance team with implementation of policies, procedures, standards and processes for effective data management and ensure continued use of bank-wide data in alignment with the Chief Data Officer (CDO).
You’ll be responsible for a wide range of duties to ensure our governance processes are efficient, streamlined and drive consistency and quality of data. As a senior member of the Data Governance team, you will expected to take the lead on key deliverables and provide direction to key stakeholders across the organisation. You’ll support the Data Office to deliver on ING’s data strategy in order to uplift data management across the organisation, protect the bank and ensure trust in data to build the bank of the future.
The role is a key pillar within the CDO function, further strengthening the Bank’s data governance framework, to ensure sustainable data management practices leading to well-defined, consistent and high quality data that aligns to our purpose of helping our customers and our employees get ahead in life and in business.
What are you going to do? You’ll be…
- Supporting the Data Office to deliver the data strategy in order to uplift data management across the organisation, protect the bank and ensure trust in data to enable ING build the bank of the future
- Managing application and deployment of data policies and processes and their continued enforcement to include areas such as workflow for data ingestion, data quality, master data and data life cycle management.
- Driving improvements of the data controls on all data flows in the data management platform to meet increasing regulatory expectations and prudential standards
- Identifying risk items together with the stakeholders, based on knowledge of end-to-end processes: providing evidences, documenting and reporting risks
- Driving outcomes to mature the processes related to data management and data protection activities across the bank.
- Managing issues and risks relating to data management and deliver control enhancements to ensure compliance with ING
- Providing guidance and direction to the data steward community, to ensure they are effective in governing the implementation of the data management strategy.
- Co-ordinating and facilitating Operational Data Committee as the forum for key data governance matters for the data community and initial escalation point of critical data quality issues.
- Building strong relationships with a wide variety of internal stakeholders to help steer the data management strategy across the organization.
What are we looking for? Someone who has…
- Experience in data governance and data management solutions and tooling ( Metadata Management, Data Catalogs, Data Quality, Reference Data Management, Data Lineage),
- Understanding of key regulations impacting data requirements (e.g. Basel BCBS 239, CPG 235, new IFRS, Solvency II, Consumer Data Right, GDPR)
- 8+ years’ work experience, with at least 4 years in the Financial Services/Banking sector with over 2 years in a role within a control function
- Ability to develop, optimize and troubleshoot complex data management processes, solution and issues
- Good knowledge of the Information Management framework, including operating model, data management, data security, data quality and data architecture.
- Proficient in the use of standard systems and tools to manipulate and manage data (MS Excel, MS SQL, Tableau etc.)
- Cloud Services (AWS, Azure, GCP), DevOps, agile will be advantageous.
