Your Impact 

Your role as AWS Engineer within our Cloud Enablement team presents a fantastic opportunity to foster adoption of AWS in Goldman Sachs Asset and Wealth Management. We are seeking for an enthusiastic, highly skilled AWS engineer, with proven experience with AWS, CDK, DevOps and infrastructure management. The individual should possess a deep understanding of AWS, integration with other AWS services and third-party vendor products. You will use your AWS engineering know-how to build secure and compliant resource stacks for application and develop re-usable patterns to enable cloud migration for similar use-cases.  

You will be part of a team which enables cloud adoption and migration onto the Goldman Sachs ecosystem by developing patterns and providing hands-on guidance to application teams. This requires you to frequently switch between operating on a deep technical level with both global and local Goldman Sachs engineers, as well as guiding senior stakeholders in risk assessment, technical problem solving and decision making. In all discussions you bring technical expertise and provide direction on practical solutions to ensure timelines are met. In this role you will serve internal stakeholders within the AWM division and Engineering division  

The team is located in The Hague, The Netherlands and consists of approximately 12 AWS engineers, who work in similar projects or specific area’s the team is responsible for. Most stakeholders are located in London, New York, Dallas and San Francisco. 

 

Responsibilities and Qualifications

• Provide technical direction in major organisation integration. 
• Participate in the design, development, testing and roll out of Cloud in Goldman Sachs and adoption in our division. 
• Work closely with business users and other developers globally. 

 

Skills and experience we are looking for 

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field 
• 1-3 years experience in AWS (certificates is a pre) and cloud resource deployments with AWS CDK or CloudFormation 
• 1-3 years in Java or Python 
• Security, risk and compliance mindset – experience with understanding real security concerns and trade-offs in a highly controlled regulatory environment 
• Proven strong communication and interpersonal ability, with an ability to present complex technical challenges to both technical and non-technical senior audiences 
• Understanding of and experience with working in a highly regulated financial environment is desired.  

 

Desirable skills and experience 

• Experience with CI/CD, DevOps and Testing 
• Knowledge of networking, protocols and network security 
• Experience in building and using observability, monitoring and alerting solutions (CloudWatch, PagerDuty, Grafana/Prometheus)
