We’re looking for a Data Governance Analyst to join our diverse and dynamic Network Analytics team. Together, we help our customers and communities build a better future. We design, build, and maintain products, services, and experiences that Australians love and trust, while delivering a sustainable future for Australia Post—and you could be part of that.

We're empowered to deliver for our teams and delight our customers. We provide an inclusive and supportive environment that nurtures talented people, trusts our teams to deliver their best, and leverages modern work practices and technologies. It's an unexpectedly dynamic and collaborative culture that feels more like a start-up than a 213-year-old icon.

What you’ll deliver with us

As our Data Governance Analyst, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and security of our data assets. Reporting to the Network Analytics Manager, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and maintain best practices that align with Australia Post data governance frameworks.  You will play a key role in fostering a data-driven culture and improving the overall quality, security, and compliance of our data assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of data governance frameworks that align with industry standards, ensuring improved data quality through profiling, cleansing, validation, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate within our data community to promote a data-driven culture and ensure governance practices are adopted across teams.
  • Work closely with data engineers, business analysts, and domain experts to maintain data accuracy, consistency, and alignment with business needs.
  • Support the development and refinement of data models and key metrics, enabling data-driven decision-making and strategic insights.
  • Establish Frameworks to Document data sources, assumptions, and methodologies, ensuring transparency, consistency, and reusability.
  • Provide input into data governance, metadata management, and lineage tracking to enhance data visibility and control.
  • Assist in stakeholder workshops and engagement sessions, clarifying data requirements and validating outputs.
  • Conduct regular data quality assessments and audits, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring compliance with governance policies.
  • Provide guidance and training to teams, empowering staff to adopt data governance best practices.
  • Drive resolution of data-related issues, collaborating with IT and business teams to enhance data management processes.
  • Monitor data assets continuously to maintain accuracy, security, and compliance across the organization.

About you

You are a detail-oriented data professional with a deep understanding of data governance principles and best practices. Your strong analytical skills enable you to identify patterns, resolve inconsistencies, and ensure data integrity across systems. You excel at translating complex data concepts into clear, actionable insights for diverse stakeholders, fostering alignment across the organization. With a proactive and problem-solving mindset, you anticipate challenges, implement structured solutions, and drive continuous improvements in data management; all while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and compliance within tight deadlines

You’ll also need

  • Proven experience in data governance or data management roles.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience preferred with Collibra
  • Understanding of BigQuery and how it handles large datasets, including partitioning, clustering, and query optimization for efficient data retrieval.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks and regulatory requirements.
  • SQL proficiency – Ability to read & write complex SQL queries for BigQuery, including joins, aggregations, subqueries, and partitioning for efficient data analysis.
  • Familiarity with schema design best practices (data modelling) and its role in governance and compliance.
  • Quality & lineage expertise to ensure data traceability and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to bridge technical and business needs.
  • Ability to thrive in an agile, fast-paced environment and make a meaningful impact.
  • Utilize Jira to manage tasks, sprints, and projects efficiently, ensuring clear tracking of progress
  • Document processes, workflows, and project details in Confluence to ensure transparency and accessibility of information across teams.
  • Preferred: Experience with Python or another programming language (nice to have).
