Your Team Responsibilities

  • The MSCI Data Collections team is primarily responsible for collecting and validating Company Data, ESG, Real assets raw input data from publicly available sources.
  • Daily, the team collects data production and coordinates with stakeholders to understand task priorities.
  • They also ensure quality by reviewing data, ensuring it is up-to-date and adheres to MSCI's data collection guidance and methodology.
  • Additionally, the team's drive to innovate and leverage technology leads them to initiate and collaborate on programs related to data quality and process improvements, such as automation, workflow streamlining projects, and building data QA models.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Good understanding of numbers (millions, billions, percentages).
  • Proficient in MS Excel (data entry, navigating multiple spreadsheets, using lookup functions).
  • Skilled in using snipping and annotation tools for snapshots.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint Document Library/Teams for file transfer and communication.
  • Ability to navigate company websites, particularly the investor relations section.
  • Experience extracting data from aggregating websites (e.g., SEC.gov, SEDAR, exchanges).
  • Familiar with public company reporting (10-Ks, annual reports, financial statements, interim reports, bond prospectus, corporate governance documents).
  • Knowledge of capital markets, including navigating stock details on exchanges.
  • Understanding of common corporate events and their impact on securities and issuers.
  • Awareness of different types of listings in various countries (USA, Japan, UK, China).
  • Familiarity with data protection and infringement guidelines (knowing permissible websites for data download).
  • Gather and analyze geographic data using various methods and tools.
  • Proficient in geospatial analysis, data visualization, and understanding spatial relationships.
  • Knowledge of capital markets, corporate events, international listings, and data protection guidelines.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • Analytical approach to data collection, asking questions to understand data, especially when investigation is needed.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to spot errors and connect the dots regarding assigned tasks.
  • Adequate written and oral communication skills with high proficiency in English, able to converse easily with the team.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new concepts quickly.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and extend them in cases of uncovered exceptions.

  • Ability to make and defend sound and consistent judgments, showing expertise when needed.
