ELPEDISON, with its two privately-owned power plants in Thisvi (Voiotia) and Thessaloniki, with a total installed capacity of 820 MW, uses natural gas as fuel and ensures a clean and continuous electricity flow, based on a highly environmentally-friendly power generation process.
We are currently looking for a Cloud Engineer in our Digital Information division, to participate in design and deployment of cloud infrastructure environments, performs technical activities such as patching and upgrades, implements monitoring and security solutions, designs cloud infrastructure, responsible for backup and recovery operations, participates in incident and problem management, supports testing and implementation, and provides assistance in solution design. Work with application and database owners, ensures infrastructure maintenance and operations are documented and that agreed cloud-architecture standards are met.
What you will do:
Perform technical activities such as patching, maintenance, upgrade and other activities associated with network and cloud infrastructure.
Be responsible for 2nd Level support in incident or problem management activities with regards to cloud infrastructure.
Participate in the design, deployment and configuration of proof of concept and prototype infrastructure environments. Provide assistance and guidance during solution design in defining technical and functional specification. Ensure agreed cloud architecture standards and blueprints are captured and included in design and build of services.
Design cloud infrastructure including Content Definition Network (CDN) design, load balancer setup, caching, compute optimizations, continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipeline, and more.
Define and document guidelines and standards, based on good practices, regarding infrastructure maintenance and operations.
Manage backup and recovery operations and monitor backup / recovery resources including availability of allocated backup storage space. Track restore tests, identify failures or problems, and with application and database owners to resolve restore and any related backup problems.
Implement monitoring and alerting solutions of the platform services to validate they meet service level objectives and manage cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines.
What you will need in order to succeed:
A BSc in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration or a closely related field or equivalent. experience required alternatively, a degree in a different field accompanied by relevant certifications and hands-on experience in cloud technologies can also be considered.
3-5 years of relevant experience in Cloud Engineer / DevOps Engineer roles.
At least 4 years of relevant experience in IT Infrastructure Management or Systems Administration.
Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect.
Google Cloud Certified - Professional Cloud Architect.
AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
Certified DevOps Engineer (e.g., Azure DevOps Engineer, AWS DevOps Engineer).
Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) / Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD).
ITIL Foundation Certification.
Terraform Associate Certification.
Proficiency in Azure (& other cloud platforms like GCP & AWS).
Familiarity with server less computing and related services (Azure Functions, AWS Lambda).
Knowledge of database technologies in the cloud (e.g., Azure SQL Database, Amazon RDS).
Knowledge of networking concepts, including Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), subnets, and load balancers.
Understanding of security best practices in the cloud, including identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and compliance.
Experience with cloud monitoring, logging, and performance optimization.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, Git, Jenkins).
Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
Knowledge of ITIL framework and IT service management best practices.
Experience in scripting and programming languages such as PowerShell (& Python, Ruby)
Strong understanding of infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
Experience in areas of:
- Designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure and services.
- Migrating on-premises applications and infrastructure to the cloud.
- Deploying and managing applications in a cloud-native environment.
- Configuring and optimizing cloud networking and security settings.
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to cloud infrastructure and applications.
- Automating infrastructure provisioning and management (using IaC tools).
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver cloud-based solutions.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Level 5 - Proficient Computing, Applications, and Programming.
Technical knowledge & Problem-solving. In-depth understanding of IT systems, networks, and software applications, and the ability to manage incidents, problems, and requests. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues.
