Salary: Our salaries generally range from $ 84699.11 to $ 105873.89 and are based on qualifications and experience.

About the role

 

Join the Finance - Insurance and Securitization team where we use actuarial and financial foresight to improve housing affordability and serve as a key contributor to the growth of intellectual capital across the business and influence the development of actuarial and financial knowledge of Canada’s mortgage sector. As a Specialist, Data Analysis, you will support the Manager, Actuarial Services and serve as a data subject matter expert.

 

This is a temporary position of a duration of 12 months.
 
What you'll do:
 

  • Apply data expertise and business knowledge to compile qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Help internal stakeholders optimize data usage and interpret data results. 
  • Conduct data mining and data analyses using a variety of tools and extract meaningful insights. 
  • Monitor updates and integrity of data and databases and implement measures to protect data from unauthorized access.
  • Create reports and visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders with a focus on usability, user experience, accuracy and performance.
  • Maintain relationships with internal partners to ensure data is available to develop, validate and implement models using state-of-the-art methods and technology.
  • Support the quarterly calculation of capital for insurance risk and MICAT ratio, and project valid data to satisfy regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure adequate controls are in place and are well documented for all relevant processes.

 
What you should have:

  

  • An undergraduate degree in Statistics, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Quantitative Finance, Data Science. 
  • A minimum of five years of experience in data analysis or processing.
  • A good understanding of data formats/structures and tools in order to extract data and perform analysis.
  • The ability to work in a sophisticated technological environment (experience with SAS, Power BI, R, Python, Hue, SQL).
  • A demonstrated ability to conduct rigorous analysis using critical thinking and judgment to resolve complex issues.
  • Good writing and presentation skills.

 
It would be great if you also had:  

 

  • A master’s degree.
  • Bilingualism (French and English).
  • Knowledge of the Mortgage Insurance and Securitization business as well as the Mortgage Insurance Capital Adequacy Test (MICAT).
  • Knowledge of Actuarial Valuation and Financial Statements.
