We are looking to hire a Head of Data Engineering to lead the data engineering function for our cloud-based gaming platform and help transform Push Gaming into a data-driven organisation. This covers a wide range of solutions including back office search & reporting functionality, business intelligence, real-time data streaming, and the creation of ETL pipelines to process and transform large volumes of data. Your responsibilities will include

Location: remote/hybrid in UK, Poland, Malta or Spain.

Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience.


What you'll be doing:

  • Recruit, onboard and manage engineers to provide data solutions for our cross-functional platform teams, and ensure that we have sufficient capacity to achieve the company’s goals
  • Identify and implement suitable training for data engineers
  • Work with the Data Product Owner to understand the company’s data requirements and design high-level data architectures to support these
  • Provide technical input and guidance for teams carrying out data engineering activities and project planning
  • Promote and document best practices; contribute to the ongoing formation of the data engineering function’s processes and skill sets
  • Assist with team code reviews to ensure all solutions developed meet the required standards
  • Monitor compliance with any necessary information security policies and regulatory requirements for data management
  • Recommend ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality
  • Identify areas of technical debt and work with the platform teams to address them


What you'll bring:

  • A minimum of 5 years in a senior data role
  • Experience of dealing with large volumes of data in the order of 100+ GB/day from multiple operational data stores
  • Experience of recruitment, line management & mentoring
  • Python & Spark
  • Experience of implementing event-driven data pipelines in AWS (other cloud platforms will be considered)
  • Experience of implementing Kafka streaming applications
  • RDBMS and NoSQL data stores
  • SQL, including query optimisation
  • Testing serverless applications in a cloud-based environment
  • Infrastructure-as-code and configuration-as-code, preferably Terraform
  • Source code management such as Git
  • Continuous integration and deployment techniques
  • Experience in architecture documentation
