Established in 1911, the University of Hong Kong (HKU) is the territory’s oldest institute of higher learning and also an internationally recognized, research led, comprehensive university.Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant I (holding functional title of Data Analyst) in the Department of Family Medicine and Primary Care, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 531676) (to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
Duties and Responsibilities
The appointee will be responsible for research projects related to health and health services, pharmacoepidemiology and epidemiological studies on non-communicable diseases using population-based cohorts in Hong Kong and overseas. He/She will assist in preparing literature review, data cleaning, data analyses, academic publications and reports for funded projects. The appointee will also perform other tasks as needed for the team. There will be ample opportunities to work with professoriate and research staff to develop a research career involving advanced statistical programming and big data cohort analysis.

Requirements
- A Master's degree or above in Public Health, Biomedical Sciences, Statistics or related disciplines.
- Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of multitasking.
- Good communication skills. Able to work independently, as well as within multidisciplinary team and with external parties.
- A strong foundation in biostatistics and proficiency in programming is required.
- Evidence of academic excellent in undergraduate / postgraduate studies, as well as an interest in pursuing research postgraduate study (M.Phil. or Ph.D.), would be highly desirable.
