Job Description
Shift is a dynamic and innovative company with a 10-year history of solving complex problems for Australian businesses. At the heart of our approach is sourcing, enriching, and modeling data to support our credit IP, customer insights, and economic understanding. We are seeking an experienced Quantitative Risk Manager to join our team. In this role, you will manage and engage senior stakeholders, including C-suite executives, on key modeling projects. You will lead a team of data scientists and maintain a suite of models related to credit risk, commercial outcomes, and customer attributes. This is a strategic, Line 1 role reporting to the product team, focusing on finding the right balance between academic accuracy and practical business needs.
What You’ll Do:
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to create and implement a diverse range of data models.
- Manage and govern models related to expected loss, lifetime value, and provisioning.
- Support the development of model understanding for investors, funders, and other key stakeholders.
- Refine the company’s credit risk strategy and policies to align with business goals and regulatory requirements.
- Guide and support the credit and risk teams, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making.
- Stay up-to-date on industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies that could impact our credit risk strategy and lending products.
Qualifications
What You'll Bring:
- Hands-on experience in credit risk modeling, portfolio analytics, or strategy.
- Strong technical skills in SQL, Python, data analysis, and quantitative risk assessment.
- Proven ability to apply data insights in commercial environments.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize analysis and communicate insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Experience in building and maintaining an analytical strategy/roadmap.
- Experience monitoring the performance of analytical models.
- Strong understanding of data science and analytical modeling.
- A keen sense of the “why” behind product decisions.
- Ability to understand the relationship between data fidelity and outcomes.
- A forward-looking approach, knowing when and what to model, and when to apply advanced techniques.
- A results-driven mindset focused on achieving meaningful outcomes.
