As part of the Axpo Trainee Programme, you’ll work across multiple teams and business units, gain hands-on experience, and build a group-wide network. You’ll rotate through three different assignments – starting with the Advanced Analytics team in Trading & Sales – and take an active role in solving real-world data challenges.
The perfect start for your future career! 💯 The traineeship begins on 1st of October 2025 and is limited to 18 months with a strong perspective for a permanent position afterwards.
What you will do:
- Help shape the future of energy by working on data science and software engineering topics across the entire value chain – from data gathering and processing to analytics and generating tradeable insights
- Dive into real operational and strategic tasks and take on responsibility from day one
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Data Science, GenAI, and Trading Desks
- In your first assignment (Advanced Analytics, Trading & Sales), you will:
- Experiment with new machine learning use cases and contribute to production-ready data solutions
- Gain hands-on experience with cloud and platform technologies (e.g. Microsoft Azure, Databricks, Kubernetes)
- Improve and maintain our codebase, reducing technical debt
- Develop and optimize data ingestion and analytics pipelines
- Tailor your second and third rotations to your interests – possible teams include Group IT, Trading Desks, our subsidiary CKW, or possibly an international Axpo hub 🚀
What you bring & who you are:
- Master’s degree 🎓 in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics (no more than 2 years of post-graduation work experience)
- Strong Python skills, with a solid understanding of data science and software engineering best practices
- Ideally, first experience with data or platform engineering tools (e.g. Databricks, Kubernetes)
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts in simple terms
- A collaborative and proactive mindset
- Fluency in English; German is a plus

You will work in the office in Baden, with the flexibility to work from home as well. The fixed traineeship salary is CHF 86’000 per year, including several attractive fringe benefits.
