Generative AI Developer Trainee

This program develops talents while providing practical work experience in the compelling world of IT services. It is designed for someone intending not just to take on a summer job but to engage in a longer-term commitment.

As part of our technical team, you'd be engrossed in developing AI services for the diverse Aalto community, including researchers, teachers, and other members. We are primarily focused on developing our AI services while utilizing local and cloud processing. In the position, we prioritize software development skills including programming, git version management, debugging, pair programming, and task management.

Your role

As a Generative AI Developer Trainee, you will be working on practical development tasks, from developing new user interface or backend features to working on specific components while considering development structure for longer horizon.

You will be contributing to the service stack for Aalto AI Assistant and other Aalto AI services. Subsequently, you can specialize either in front-end or backend area.

Working with us assures you of a wealth of practical development experience. As a Generative AI Developer Trainee, you can look forward to:

1. Acquiring practical software- and service development experience

2. Getting familiar with basic workflows including JIRA task management and agile workflow.

3. Deepening understanding and competency with basic tools such as command line, Git, IDE's.

4. Developing features which will be taken into production use, while seeing their lifecycle.

Target profile

We are in search of an individual who possesses relevant skills acquired from previous studies or internships and is prepared to make a commitment of at least one year. This would involve full-time work over the summer and roughly 30%-worktime post-summer (arrangement is flexible based on studies).

We’re looking for candidates who have an interest in emerging technologies and who share Aalto's core values. The person doesn't necessarily have to be a last-year student. Who we are looking for

Our ideal Generative AI Developer Trainee possesses the following:

• Software development skills: You have some background and for example demonstrated hobby projects utilizing a programming language such as TypeScript or Python. Familiarity with modern UI development frameworks such as Vue.js or React is considered advantageous.

• Interest in AI: Enthusiasm for learning about and building competence in generative AI technologies, especially within the domain of large language models.

• Collaborative Spirit: We wish you can work well both independently and with team members. You possess strong cooperation and communication skills.

The work is based in Finland, and you are currently a student in a Finnish educational institute. Strong English communication abilities are a requirement, Finnish language skills would be a bonus. More than anything, we hope you are passionate about constantly innovating, keeping pace with industry developments, and eager to learn something new together with others.
