The Data Analyst will be part of the Financial System & Workflows Team within the Investment Finance Division, reporting to the Manager, Financial Systems & Workflow.  The data analyst will support the development of the portfolio analytics capabilities for the Investment Finance team. The role will develop and support BI solutions to help the division and its stakeholders make informed decisions. The Data Analyst will work with various datasets, employ various data analysis techniques, and communicate their findings to stakeholders. To succeed in this role, the ideal individual needs a strong attention to detail and be a team player with a proven ability to build relationships between the business groups. A keen desire to explore new technologies and implement innovative solutions will enhance the success of the role.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and develop comprehensive dashboards and reporting leveraging Power BI or similar business intelligence tools

  • Work across functional areas to understand and identify reporting objectives to develop relevant reporting capabilities

  • Collect, cleanse, and process data sets from various sources, including databases, spreadsheets and external sources to ensure accuracy and consistency

  • Identify, analyze, interpret and report on trends or patterns in data sets

  • Review extracts, reports, printouts, and performance indicators to identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems, including data quality, data integrity issues, and follow the divisional data governance policies

  • Explore data sets and draw meaningful conclusions and insights, including identifying critical metrics and KPIs

  • Evaluate, analyze, and recommend potential solutions that enhance analytics and reporting

  • Conduct gap analysis to identify and recommend process improvements that affect data quality

  • Investigate, evaluate and/or propose solutions to identified problems

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, accounting, and IT, to address data-related challenges

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of experience in financial management and investment support environment with exposure to relevant applications and workflow activities

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related discipline

  • Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI, or data visualization libraries

  • Strong proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages, such as Python, SQL, Alteryx, Power Query or others

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) to effectively convey complex findings to non-technical stakeholders

  • Experience in defining, implementing, and supporting innovative business solutions

  • Familiarity with database systems and data storage technologies

  • Experience with machine learning and predictive modeling is an asset

  • Ability to maintain an innovative mindset focused on delivering business value in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
