Who We Are:

Sometimes, a group of people come together and create something amazing. They don’t let egos get in the way. They don’t settle for the status quo, and they don’t complain when things get tough. Instead, they see a common vision for the future and each person makes an unspoken commitment to building that future together. That’s the culture, the moxie, and the story of Aspida.

Our business focuses on annuities and life insurance. At first, it might not sound flashy, but that’s why we’re doing things differently than everyone else in our industry. We’re dedicated to developing data-driven tech solutions, providing amazing customer experiences, and applying an entrepreneurial spirit to everything we do. Our work ethic is built on three main tenets: Get $#!+ Done, Do It with Moxie, and Have Fun. If this sounds like the place for you, read on, and then apply at aspida.com/careers.

What We Are Looking For:

We are looking for a hands-on, strategic leader who is passionate about driving data transformation in a mid-sized company, and who can drive us to unlock the full potential of data in our business.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a significant impact at a fast-growing company that has a dynamic, fast-paced work environment with room for professional growth and innovation.

As the VP, Data Strategy & Engineering, you will lead and drive the vision, strategy, and execution of data management initiatives across the organization. You will be responsible for transforming data into a strategic asset that enables the company to make data-driven decisions, optimize business processes, and deliver measurable outcomes. Your role will be both strategic and operational, involving a mix of leadership, hands-on involvement in data projects, and collaboration with key stakeholders to implement data governance, analytics, and insights across the business.

What You Will Do:

Leadership & Strategy Development:

  • Develop and execute the company’s data strategy, aligning it with overall business goals and priorities.
  • Define and implement best practices for data governance, quality, privacy, and security.
  • Serve as the executive sponsor for all data-driven initiatives, driving awareness and fostering a culture of data-centric decision-making across departments.
  • Partner with senior leadership to identify key business challenges and opportunities where data analytics can provide valuable insights and solutions.

Hands-On Data Execution & Management:

  • Oversee the collection, management, and analysis of data from various sources, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Lead data architecture and infrastructure development to support both operational and analytical needs.
  • Collaborate across all company functions to define data requirements, source systems, and ensure integration with core business processes.
  • Build, manage, and optimize data pipelines, reporting dashboards, and advanced analytics systems.

Team Building & Collaboration:

  • Lead and mentor a small team of data professionals, including data analysts, data engineers, and data scientists. Foster their growth and development through hands-on coaching and training.
  • Work as a collaborative leader across departments to drive cross-functional data initiatives and ensure business alignment.
  • Establish data literacy programs across the organization to enhance data understanding and usage at all levels.

Data-Driven Innovation:

  • Identify emerging trends in data technology, analytics, and artificial intelligence that could benefit the organization.
  • Implement advanced analytics, machine learning models, and AI-driven insights to support business growth and innovation.
  • Collaborate with product, marketing, sales, and operations teams to leverage data to optimize customer experiences, improve operational efficiencies, and enhance product offerings.

Data Reporting & Communication:

  • Provide regular reports and presentations to executive leadership on key data initiatives, analytics findings, and performance metrics.
  • Communicate complex data findings in clear, actionable terms for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Advocate for data-driven decision-making and influence organizational strategy through insights derived from data.
