Role Overview

An exciting leadership opportunity has arisen for a permanent position as Actuarial Manager in the Customer Solutions Data Team (GWL 11/G3) within the Strategy Department in Irish Life Customer Solutions.  


Reporting into the Senior Manager of the Customer Solutions Data Team, this role will suit a qualified actuary with a few years post qualification experience.  You will play a pivotal role in identifying and delivering strategic data opportunities that drive value across the business.  This leadership position combines actuarial and technical expertise, strategic vision, and team development to ensure the delivery of impactful data products and insights.

Team Background

  • This role is part of the Customer Solutions Data Team, reporting to the Senior Manager of the Data Team.
  • The team has responsibility for delivering innovative data solutions to empower stakeholders across the company to make data driven decisions, ultimately improving business performance and customer outcomes.
  • Combining actuarial, IT and data expertise, the team operates within the Customer Solutions Strategy Department at Irish Life.

Working with the team, the successful applicant will :

  • Partner with stakeholders to identify and drive data-driven opportunities aligned with Irish Life's goals.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the business context to provide actionable advice and insights.
  • Oversee the development of key data products, including visualisations, machine learning models and actionable insights.
  • Guide your team in creating compelling presentations to communicate findings effectively through data storytelling.
  • Monitor and interpret industry trends to inform strategy and innovation.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection and other relevant regulation and policies, and meet audit and reporting obligations.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team, fostering growth and accountability.
  • Collaborate across functions and with external partners to build strong relationships and deliver results.
  • Work closely with the management team to shape a future-ready data strategy and team.
     

What you’ll need to be successful in this role:

The ideal candidate will have:

 

  • Actuarial qualification (IFoA, FSAI or other appropriate professional qualification) with experience in actuarial or data focused roles
  • A knowledge of analytical and programming tools such as Power BI, Excel, SQL, Tableau, Python
  • Knowledge of AI and machine learning fundamentals
  • In-depth experience in the life and pensions industry, with the ability to apply this knowledge to drive business outcomes
  • Proven ability to lead and deliver projects or initiatives successfully
  • Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines under pressure
  • Strong decision-making skills, with a track record of problem solving and developing innovative solutions
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, including the ability to influence and inspire peers, stakeholders and team members
  • Excellent relationship building skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and influence outcomes
  • High motivation, flexibility and a proactive approach to work
  • Strong analytical mindset, with a commitment to challenging and improving existing practices
  • A structured and organised approach to ensure quality outputs and timely delivery
  • Accountability for risk management and adherence to high standards
     

What you will need to be successful in the role

  • Ideally completed IFoA exams.
  • Advanced knowledge of Ms Office, SQL, VBA or Prophet.
  • Under the terms of your employment, you are required to maintain and satisfy the membership requirements of  the professional bodies and/or associations set out as follows:
  • The recognised professional Actuarial Body in Ireland (the Society of Actuaries in Ireland)
