Senior Robotics Engineer – Motion Planning (m/f/d)

About the role

The AI team at Agile Robots is seeking a dedicated Robotics Engineer with a specialization in motion planning and workcell optimization. You are expected to have at least 5 years of experience in the field, demonstrating proficiency in using different motion planning approaches. You will work on fusing the classical approaches with the new AI techniques. This position is focused on optimizing the distribution of elements and optimizing the motions for robotic systems in a production line. So prior hands-on experience in this area would be a significant plus.

Your Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a motion planner to optimize different cost functions
• Implement the workcell optimizer and the motion planner on real production line scenarios
• Work closely with the Robotics team to design and implement AI-based solutions
• Collaborate with other team members to evaluate and improve existing systems/pipelines
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI, DL, and robotics
• Translate complex functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture and design
• Travelling frequently to our deployment sites, primarily China (up to 40% of the time depending on the stage of the project), to collaborate with on-site engineers in deploying and evaluating our solutions and collecting feedback on their usage for collaborating

Essential Skills

• Master's degree in computer science, Automation, Robotics, AI, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Robotics
• Knowledge of classic motion planning approaches (RRT, STOMP, CHOMP, etc.)
• Hands on experience with using motion planners in ROS
• Proficiency in C++
• Experience with visualization tools
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills
• Strong verbal and written communication in English

Beneficial Skills

• Experience with Python and C#
• Previous experience with ML/DL-based solutions
• Familiarity with Conan package manager
• Experience with ML/DL libraries like Jax, PyTorch
• Knowledge of different convex optimization techniques
• Strong verbal and written communication in Chinese (Mandarin)
