About the Role

The Senior Analyst - Customer Monitoring and Detection is a crucial member of the Financial Crime Threat Management Team, driving support across multiple critical functions. In this advanced role, you will:

• Leverage your expertise in SQL to efficiently query large-scale databases and apply advanced statistical analysis to extract insights.
• Utilize these insights to assess and refine financial crime detection algorithms, with a strong focus on enhancing the quality of alerts generated.
• Collaborate strategically with other Financial Crime teams to identify areas for improvement in detection coverage, and develop targeted solutions informed by typology reports, intelligence findings, and comprehensive risk assessments.

What will your day look like?

As a Senior Analyst you will -

1. Deployment and Tuning of Monitoring Tools:

Drive the deployment and configuration of advanced quantitative monitoring tools to track financial crime risks. Own the tuning of thresholds and settings, ensuring the tools are optimized for accuracy and aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.

2. Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis on BAU Scenario Runs:

Drive the analysis of results from business-as-usual (BAU) monitoring scenarios. Drive data analysis efforts to identify patterns or anomalies in transaction data, providing actionable insights and recommendations for refining detection models and strategies.

3. Analytics Execution in PostgreSQL:

Manage the execution and troubleshooting of complex analytical queries in PostgreSQL. Drive the writing of complex SQL queries and execution of data analysis for financial crime detection, ensuring the smooth operation of BAU activities and the continuous improvement of monitoring systems.

4. Documenting Business Analysis and Findings:

Take ownership of documenting the analysis process, key findings, and insights. Prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to leadership and key stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment with compliance and regulatory standards.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

• Advanced data management and manipulation skills, particularly in SQL and Excel.
• SAS, Python, and experience with Machine Learning.
• Relevant experience in Financial Crime, Regulatory Compliance, or financial systems.
• A strong commitment to quality and standards alignment, with the ability to engage others, gain buy-in, and champion continuous improvement.
• Proactively identify and drive opportunities to manage financial crime risks.
• A solid understanding of statistical and data concepts, with hands-on experience applying these principles in a financial crime context.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex issues clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities professionally, alongside excellent influencing abilities.
• Experience with technology and process governance, particularly when deploying technology solutions.
• Practical experience deploying solutions on cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure preferred.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in data science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
