As our new Lead Data Engineer, you will be part of the Data Platform team, which is focused on creating a scalable, flexible, and high-performing Azure-based data ecosystem. Our ambition is to continuously enhance data visibility, shareability, and usability across the organization. 

We are seeking a skilled and self-sufficient Lead Data Engineer who is not only capable of executing tasks efficiently but also improving solutions and developing better approaches for solving data challenges. You will play a key role in ensuring our data pipelines, storage solutions, and transformations align with industry best practices and business needs. 

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO  

  • Design, develop, and operate high quality data flows on Azure to enable AI product creation and business driven initiatives. 

  • Improve and optimize existing data solutions, focusing on automation, performance, and cost-efficiency. 

  • Collaborate with Data Architects to define data models, storage strategies, and best practices for ingestion and transformation. 

  • Work closely with Machine Learning teams to provide high-quality, structured data for model training and inference. 

  • Leading and mentoring the Data Engineering team in evolving the data platform and exploring new ways and technologies 

  • Ensure data governance, security, and compliance standards are met across all data solutions. 

  • Work with and guide stakeholders in best practices for data ingestion, transformation, and consumption, helping translate business needs into technical data solutions 

  • Troubleshoot, monitor, and optimize data infrastructure, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability. 

  • Document data processes, architecture decisions, and best practices to ensure knowledge sharing and platform sustainability.

HOW YOU WILL SUCCEED IN YOUR ROLE  

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role  

  • Experience with architecting data platform and data flows in Azure 

  • Proficiency in Azure Data Services, including but not limited to: Azure Data Factory (ETL/ELT pipelines), Azure SQL Database, Azure Databricks (Spark-based data processing), Azure Data Lake Storage and Azure Event Hubs / Azure Stream Analytics (real-time data processing) 

  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with large datasets. 

  • Well versed in processing JSON, XML or CSV files 

  • Past experiences with interfacing with REST based API’s 

  • Proficiency in Python or Scala for data processing and automation. 

  • Experience with data modeling and designing efficient, scalable data structures. 

  • Understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and Git-based workflows. 

  • Experience with data governance, lineage tracking, and security best practices. 

  • You possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills  

  • You are empathetic and maintain composure when dealing with many stakeholders and various expectations  

  • You enjoy teamwork and support colleagues to learn through knowledge sharing  

  • You are fluent in English and ideally also in the local language of your office
