Role Overview
As the Computational Design Lead, you will spearhead the integration of computational methodologies within Ramboll’s engineering and design processes. You will develop, implement, and advocate for data-driven workflows that enhance efficiency, quality, and sustainability in the built environment. Your role will bridge the gap between traditional engineering, digital innovation, and business strategy—ensuring computational design becomes a core driver of Ramboll’s future vision.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Leadership Responsibilities:
- Define and execute the Computational Design Strategy to align with Ramboll’s business and digital transformation goals.
- Lead and expand the Computational Design Task Force, fostering collaboration between disciplines such as structural engineering, sustainability, infrastructure, and digital design.
- Drive the adoption of automation and AI-assisted design across teams, improving productivity and design quality.
- Collaborate with HR & Capability Building to shape training programs that enhance digital competencies across the organization.
- Act as a key liaison between computational design, business development, and project management teams to maximize project value.
Technical & Project Responsibilities:
- Develop and standardize computational workflows that streamline design, analysis, and optimization processes.
- Implement data-driven decision-making approaches in engineering and architectural projects.
- Integrate parametric modeling, generative design, and AI-based solutions to enhance design efficiency.
- Advocate for automation-first design thinking, optimizing repetitive tasks across disciplines.
- Ensure interoperability between tools such as Rhino/Grasshopper, Speckle, Revit/Dynamo, Python, and emerging AI-driven design platforms.
- Lead the development of digital twins, predictive analytics, and machine learning applications in the AEC sector.
Business & Client Engagement:
- Work closely with business development teams to identify opportunities where computational design can add value.
- Present innovative solutions to clients, partners, and industry stakeholders, demonstrating the competitive advantage of digital workflows.
- Drive thought leadership, representing Ramboll at conferences, industry events, and computational design forums.
- Collaborate with global and regional Ramboll teams to establish best practices and scalable digital solutions.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Computational Design, or a related field.
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in computational design, parametric modeling, or digital innovation.
- Strong proficiency in Grasshopper, Rhino, Revit/Dynamo, Python, C#, and automation frameworks.
- Experience in leading digital transformation initiatives within an engineering or architectural consultancy.
- Ability to manage and mentor a team of computational designers, fostering a culture of innovation.
- Strong understanding of interdisciplinary collaboration, particularly in structural, civil, and sustainability-driven design.
- Business acumen to bridge technical innovation with strategic growth and client engagement.
Preferred:
- Experience with AI, machine learning, or digital twin technologies in AEC applications.
- Familiarity with cloud-based platforms (Speckle, Bentley iTwin, Autodesk Construction Cloud, etc.) for collaborative workflows.
- Knowledge of scripting and automation in Python, C#, JavaScript, or visual programming tools.
- Previous experience in leading teams, training programs, or digital initiatives.
