Job Description:The University of Florida, College of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Data Scientist IV to support the UF Health Aortic Disease Center. This position will work closely with the Center Director as part of the leadership team to develop, implement, and coordinate data management in translational and implementation science research projects aimed at improving health care quality, outcomes and well-being for patients with diseases of the aorta through the use of artificial intelligence (AI).
The Data Scientist IV at the Center will be responsible for selecting and applying appropriate analytical methods to answer questions and test hypotheses as specified by clinical researchers, administrators and clinicians. This position will require expertise in both database design and complex statistical methods and algorithms. Expected projects will include design of research and operational databases and statistical analyses, and development of reporting infrastructures. Providing leadership to domain experts on issues related to principles of data science and analytical methods. Prioritizing and coordinating multiple tasks to achieve tight deadlines (as determined by commitments to funding agencies),and complying in a timely manner with administrative requests and requirements.
As a senior-level data scientist, the incumbent will provide leadership in AI model development, statistical analysis, and data infrastructure management. This position will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including AI researchers, vascular surgeons, clinicians, data engineers, and administrators, to integrate AI tools into clinical workflows. Additionally, this role involves supervising and mentoring junior data scientists, students, and research staff, contributing to the advancement of AI applications in healthcare.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Utilize data science and statistical software such as Python, R, and SAS, to analyze and interpret research data.
- Use other database/analytical software platforms (e.g., MSSQL) to develop queries and manipulate data for deployment to real-time systems used in data activities.
- Design and develop scripts to transform data from multiple data sources into primary data collection centers and make the data analytical-ready.
- Integrating, filtering and extracting multivariate and multimodal clinical databases for patient cohorts of interest from local databases and data warehouses.
- Formulate procedures for effective administration of research projects and protection of health information in accordance with University policy, and all applicable state and federal laws.
- Ensure quality, consistency and validity of large multimodal datasets.
- Assist in the interpretation of data and compile reports of analyses to inform data system
planning. - Maintain data infrastructure capable of supporting analyses of clinical research data.
- Summarize and visualize results for inclusion in specific publications.
$98,000-$100,000/annually - Commensurate with education & experience
Minimum Requirements:A doctorate in a related field with one year of relevant experience in data science, statistics, bioinformatics, analytics, or similar field. A Master's degree with three years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:- A Ph.D. Degree in data science, statistics, bioinformatics, analytics, or a related field, with three years of relevant experience.
- • Expertise in deep learning and medical image analysis.
- • Three first-author journal publications in the field.
- • Familiar with CT, SimpleITK, and 3D Slicer.
- • Proficient in PyTorch and MONAI.
- • Must demonstrate experience with EMRs (such as Epic), systems, and data design. • Knowledge of RedCap • Knowledge of SQL or other relational database management systems
- • Excellent writing and communication skills.
