Turner Industries Group has an opening for a Sr. Data and Analytics Developer to join our Information Technology team in the Baton Rouge, LA area. The Senior Data and Analytics Developer at Turner Industries is responsible for understanding, analyzing, querying, and modeling data and KPIs for large data warehousing projects. The ideal candidate will work within the team and with the other senior Data and Analytics developer to carry a project from conception to completion.
Essential Qualifications:
- Excellent soft skills
- Ability to work closely with a team
- Strong project management skills with support, oversight, and guidance from the Data and Analytics Manager
- Strong T-SQL skills
- Depth of experience working with RDBMSs, with a strong preference for Microsoft SQL Server, and some experience with DB2 preferred but not required
- Minimum 2 years experience with Power BI, to include:
- Understanding Power BI Semantic Models
- Understanding Power Query
- Minimum 3 years experience with cloud data platforms (Google BigQuery, Snowflake, etc)
- Minimum 6 years experience utilizing dimensional modeling, with a deep understanding of the various types of fact tables and dimension types
- Minimum 8years of general Data and Analytics development experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, or an adjacent technical field
Functional Requirements:
Responsible for understanding, analyzing, querying, and modeling data and KPIs for large data warehousing projects; work within the team and with the other senior Data and Analytics developer to carry a project from conception to completion; have an expert level understanding of each facet of data warehousing; glean data and KPI needs from stakeholders, understand and profile existing data, model the final warehouse tables, and build the required ETL/ELT pipelines; have a deep understanding of dimensional modeling; understand the different dimension types, including slowly changing dimensions types 1 and 2, and in what scenarios each is appropriate; possess deep knowledge of ETL/ELT concepts and best practices; have a mix of experience writing code heavy data pipelines in platforms such as SQL or dbt and in GUI based platforms such as SSIS, Power BI Power Query, or Informatica; be equally comfortable building new data warehouse solutions and maintaining and updating existing ones; have a depth of experience working within 3NF OLTP platforms, specifically stored in RDBMSs; will occasionally need to build visuals in Power BI; have a basic working knowledge of building, configuring, and styling visuals in Power BI
