Description

If you are an ENGINEERING professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Copeland has an exciting opportunity for you!  As a Model Based Simulation Engineer, you will work collaboratively with a global multi-disciplinary engineering team to develop, validate, and standardize 1D/2D/3D HVACR system, sub-system simulation models using model-based engineering tools and methodologies. You will also demonstrate ability to diligently track and manage progress of the work by facilitating open dialog with a wide variety of contributors and stakeholders. AS A MODEL BASED SIMULATION ENGINEER, YOU WILL:

  • Collaborate with global simulation and engineering teams to identify opportunities to apply 1D/2D/3D model-based simulation techniques and processes.
  • Lead development & implementation of simulation models to aid design of HVACR systems, sub-systems, components using industry leading simulation tools.
  • Lead activities to verify and validate (V&V) simulation models. This will require partnering with global subject matter experts, creating test plans, and/or leveraging available test data by working with other engineering teams.
  • Lead democratization efforts of validated simulation models for the engineering community.   
  • Drive engagement to understand & manage business priorities. Utilize project management & lean tools to create schedules and deliver results.
  • Effectively communicate project status to various stakeholders in the organization by preparing presentation of results.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in scientific or engineering discipline and 3+ years relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience working with 1D/3D simulations tools and their application in the Simulation Driven design approach.
  • Proven track record of applying fundamental engineering principles and creative thinking to drive timely engineering decisions.
  • Strong investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills. Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to develop collaborative partnerships on a global basis
  • Proven computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Master’s degree in scientific or engineering discipline and 1-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience using model-based engineering concepts, principles, and theories to aid creation of simulation models or process.
  • Experience using GT Suite, Ansys (Mechanical/Fluent) software preferred
  • Deep knowledge of the engineering physics, multi-physics 1D/3D simulations, material calibration, verification & validation (V&V) techniques, statistics, and engineering analysis
  • Experience in using common programing languages (VB, python, C, C++ etc.).
  • Experience with process automation & optimization tools such as HEEDS, ISight will be a plus.

Flexible Work Schedule:

This role has the flexibility of a remote work option up to two days a week and a core hour schedule. You can choose to flex your start and stop times given you are working during the core hours of 9:00am - 3:00pm.
