Risk & Resiliency- Data, Analytics and Metrics Specialist

The Specialist will work within First Line of Defense (1LOD), Risk & Resiliency and be the technical expert supporting the Data, Metrics & Analytics team manager.

As a strong individual contributor, the successful candidate will help drive the governance and production of periodic and ad-hoc Management Information around Operational Risk and Resiliency. Additionally, this individual will provide data measurement, analytics and reporting at an aggregated, Business Team, Regional and Legal Entity level.

Major Duties :

  • Supports the governance and production of periodic and ad-hoc Management Information around Operational Risk and Resiliency.

  • Supports the department objectives & key Results and identification of key risks.

  • Act as a strong independent contributor delivering key analyses, reporting, and process improvements through automation.  Develops working relationship with other departments globally, particularly Operations, Risk, Compliance and IT.

  • Supports the review of issues/trend analysis with escalation to the COO.

  • Assists in the review of business change and performs initial impact assessment to determine the relevant SME team that needs to be engaged across Operational Risk and Resiliency.

  • Manages complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and/or ambiguous issues.

  • Displays a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the department to improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity.

  • Builds automated solutions aimed at improving productivity through streamlined processes, with a focus on improving data connections.

  • Leads technical and business training for team members and others in the department.

  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and the prioritization of department activities.

Knowledge :

  • College or University degree is preferred.

  • 7+ years of Financial services experience.

  • Experience in risk and resiliency domains and frameworks with a focus on reporting.

  • Extensive experience working with Microsoft Office products, especially PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.

  • Significant experience with SharePoint and the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Automate and Power Apps.

  • Experience with extracting data from diverse sources, analyzing insights, and visualizing using tools like PowerBI and Tableau.

  • Experience with programming languages like SQL and Python.

  • Able to effectively participate in projects and complete multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently while maintaining a sense of urgency and attention to detail.

  • Experience upskilling others through hosted trainings and knowledge sharing.

  • Ability to explain difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus.

  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written.

Salary Range:

$114,700 - 194,900 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
