Role Overview:

As a DevOps Intern, you'll join our collaborative AI/ML Platform team, which specializes in building infrastructure to support data science and machine learning projects. You'll gain hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (primarily AWS), Infrastructure as Code, and MLOps best practices. Under guidance from experienced engineers, you'll contribute to projects that improve platform reliability, automation, and scalability, actively learning and applying modern DevOps/MLOps techniques. Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with team members to design, build, and improve infrastructure solutions.
  • Assist in implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform.
  • Support routine operational tasks and troubleshooting during business hours.
  • Write scripts and automation tooling to streamline platform operations.
  • Participate in documentation and knowledge-sharing activities.

Who You Are:

You're a proactive learner excited to gain real-world experience in DevOps. You're curious, collaborative, and eager to develop technical skills in cloud infrastructure and automation.

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Basic understanding of cloud services (AWS preferred) or interest in learning cloud infrastructure.
  • Comfortable writing scripts and/or code (Python preferred).
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Interest in learning about data science infrastructure and workflows.

Nice to Have:

  • Docker and Kubernetes
  • Linux environments
  • Infrastructure as Code tooling (Terraform preferred)
  • Data science and machine learning concepts
  • ETL or data processing tools (e.g., Apache Spark, Airflow)

Candidate Profile:
You have the ability and interest in working full-time (a maximum of 38 hours/week) this summer and part-time (a maximum of 20 hours/week) for 9 months afterward. You have the ability and interest in working within our hybrid work model, combining onsite work at our Draper, UT office with remote flexibility. You are currently pursuing an undergraduate degree with a strong academic record. This internship is scheduled to begin in Summer 2025 and continue through 2026 (1-year program).
