The Principal Data Scientist, Performance Analytics as a member of the Analytics & Monitoring team is responsible for defining and executing the advanced statistics roadmap of the Analytics & Montoring team, defining the development and management of advanced statistical models of internal asset performance tools and infrastructure and mentoring team members in data science and advanced statistics.
The products A&M develops address real-time and historical performance, provide underperformance alerts and summarize relevant asset data around performance for a variety of audiences including upper management. The Principal Data Scientist, Performance Analytics will contribute to the collaboration with O&M, Asset Management and Engineering teams to surface issues that cause assets to underperform post construction taking into consideration pre construction benchmarks. The development of the analytics tools and platform will be done in close collaboration with the IT/OT department as well to ensure that the system and protocols are compatible with the IT/OT strategy and guidelines of the company. The ultimate goal of the Principal Data Scientist, Performance Analytics is to develop the algorithms and logic that will enhance the profitability of the whole portfolio and offer direction and strategy on possible improvement opportunities while automating workflows.
Role Responsibilites:
- Define strategy for the development of statistical tools and growth of services for the entire Engineering Group
- Determine best in class set of statistical modelling that expose the overall health and performance of assets (Wind, Solar, Storage)
- Deliver resource assessment automatic data cleaning pipelines (Smart Data Pipeline)
- Orchestrate the implementation of Agentic AI and Generative AI solutions for the Engineering group
- Validate and support improvement of energy and performance calculation methods
- Drive accuracy of expected generation tools and benchmark it against theoretical models
- Automate the reconciliation of preconstruction energy estimates with post construction results
- Support Product Development pipeline for Engineering
- Build a collaborating environment with multiple stakeholders (Engineering, Operations, AM, IT/OT and others)
- Mentor engineers in technology related topics and data analytics methods and tools.
- Reassure that RWECE is using state of the art statistical methodologies for resource and operational assessment
Job Requirements and Expereince:
- Degree in STEM from an accredited university or college
- Minimum 12 years of engineering experience with demonstrated history in analytics activities and/or projects
- Deep understanding of Resource Assessment methodologies for Wind and Solar projects
- Deep understanding of RES systems (Wind turbines, Photovoltaics, Storage)
- Excellent understanding of operational data and energy calculation methodologies
- Extended hands on experience with data analysis, databases and visualization tools (e.g. Python, R, SQL, Tableau, Databricks)
- Strong familiarity with Agile methodologies
- Experience in leading processes, initiatives or teams
- Good oral and written communication in English
- Project management skills

- Willing to travel (up to 10% of time)
