The Engineering and Asset Management Signals and Communications Asset Management office is looking for an Asset Management Specialist to support the Manager, Radio Asset Management in the development of Asset Management Plans, and support of asset renewal investment strategies and State of Good Repair programs.

The role supports the asset management of Radio Systems assets to optimize the value of diverse technology equipment and integrated systems. This role involves planning risk-based approach and assurance programs to mitigate risks, enhance efficiency and reliability of critical asset classes. Furthermore, it supports the analysis and interpretation of patterns and trends in complex data sets using statistical tools, data modeling, and business intelligence applications to create reports and visual presentations that are accurate, meaningful and relevant. 

What will I be doing?
  • Develop and implement Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) workflows and administer datasets from various data sources to produce meaningful insights.
  • Assist in the development of asset business cases, cost projections, asset investment modeling, cost-benefit analysis, risk assessments and related asset management strategies.
  • Manage the accuracy, security, integrity and confidentiality of data relating to Radio Systems in compliance with established standards, policies and procedures.
  • Build predictive models to forecast the outcome of future events and scenarios to help achieve a strategic asset management plan. 
  • Develop reports, visualizations, KPI dashboards and trend analysis to identify patterns and forecast needs based on historical data.
  • Manage Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems to sustain accurate and relevant asset information in support of the development of recommendations for mitigation and improvement initiatives. 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for innovative data-driven solutions to asset management challenges and continuously staying updated on asset management trends.
  • Monitor and maintain inventories at various warehouse locations for accurate tracking and asset reporting of radio equipment, accessories and other resources.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
  • University Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Data Science, Business Analytics, Mathematics, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent. Asset Management/PMP certification will be an asset.
  • Demonstrated expertise in forecasting, data analytics, machine learning, database management and visualization using development frameworks and tools such as Excel, SQL, DAX, NodeJS, Python and Power BI.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities and detail-oriented to achieve innovative solutions to complex challenges and translating complex data.
  • Ability to support the whole life cycle management of communication technology assets involving cost modeling, acquisition, inventory, utilization, maintenance and disposal processes.
  • Ability to support the review of asset management plans based on the output from the whole life cost model.
  • Knowledge in transforming complex and unstructured data into XML and JSON formats and able to integrate them with MS SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB, Elastic Stack and other database engines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while effectively collaborating in team settings and committed to continuous improvement with a proactive mindset.
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license in good standing is required for the role.
