Auria's rapidly deployable products enhance your mission's speed, precision, and security with military-grade software for Battlespace Readiness, cybersecurity, mission planning, satellite imagery management, SATCOM, and DevSecOps operations.Auria is looking to hire a Senior Database Engineer to support the development, maintenance, and deployment of the Enterprise Management & Control (EM&C) system for the Department of Defense (DOD) Satellite Communication (SATCOM) Enterprise. The ideal candidate will design and implement multiple databases in multiple environments to support the engineering design and development of the EM&C system.
The primary work location is in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Potential for remote/hybrid based on candidates' qualifications.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for designing, developing, testing, and debugging complex software solutions that address business and mission-critical problems using a variety of programming and scripting languages.
- Apply appropriate software engineering standards, tools, and processes throughout the full development life cycle to ensure quality, reliability, and maintainability of code.
- Diagnose and resolve issues arising during integration of applications and services, implementing fixes and enhancements in accordance with defined program procedures.
- Develop application software within a Windows-based environment, leveraging relational databases, client-server architectures, and NoSQL technologies such as MongoDB and PostgreSQL to support scalable enterprise solutions.
- Design and support data architectures including data warehouses and data lakes to enable advanced analytics and data science capabilities.
- Collaborate with data integration teams to enable efficient access to structured and unstructured data and support the development of predictive models and analytical solutions.
- Maintain and monitor Kubernetes-based installations, ensuring high availability, system performance, and adherence to operational best practices.
- Operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, adapting to shifting priorities and collaborating across teams to meet evolving project needs and technical challenges.
Basic Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a U.S. Government SECRET security clearance.
- Ability to obtain a DoD Level 2 Security Certification (e.g., Security+) within 6 months.
- Engineer Level 5: Bachelor's degree and 16+ years of experience, Master's with 12+ years of experience
- Extensive experience in the design, implementation, and support of complex databases and data warehousing solutions, including both relational and non-relational architectures (e.g., SQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL).
- Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and monitoring standards.
- Proficiency in relational and dimensional data modeling.
- Experience implementing data warehouse and data lake architectures using service-oriented architecture (SOA) principles and Agile/SAFe methodologies.
- Proficient in database server tools such as SSAS, SSIS, and SSRS.
- Hands-on experience managing PostgreSQL databases on both Windows and Linux platforms.
- Experience with Kubernetes-based deployments, including operations and monitoring.
- Experience supporting data science initiatives and applying statistical methods for analysis.
- Experience in full lifecycle project development, from requirements gathering to deployment.
- Demonstrated ability to document technical designs, processes, and procedures clearly and concisely.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong teamwork, collaboration, and independent work capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active U.S. Government SECRET security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
- Master of Science in Engineering or another STEM discipline.
- Demonstrated experience implementing automation solutions using Ansible to support distribution and operational processes.
- Experience with DevOps processes and cloud infrastructure.
- Systems administration experience across Windows, Linux, and virtualized environments (e.g., VMware).
- Strong understanding of enterprise-level computing platforms involving virtualization, distribution, and high availability.
- Programming experience in SQL, Python, PowerShell, PHP, R, and C# for database operations and automation scripting.
- Experience with direct customer interaction.
- Familiarity with automated testing and test-driven development (TDD) concepts, tools, and languages
- Experience conducting database engineering tasks for complex systems.
- Proven experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments using collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
Pay Range: The salary offered will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications - skills, education & experience - and the position level ($130,000 - $175,000).
