As our business continues to grow, data governance has become a critical pillar in ensuring consistency, integrity, and reliability of information across the organisation. We’re now seeking a Data Governance Manager to join our team in Ultimo. In this key role, you will be responsible for leading the implementation and ongoing management of Transgrid’s Data Governance Framework. This includes defining strategy, objectives, roles and responsibilities, shared definitions, policies, standards, procedures, and technologies to support informed, data-driven decision-making across the business. You will drive the delivery of end-to-end data governance initiatives, including the rollout of a data catalog, data quality, data literacy, and data loss prevention programs. A major focus of this role is to elevate Transgrid’s data literacy, cultivate a data-driven culture, and embed best-practice governance principles across the organisation. You will educate and empower teams to understand their roles in data governance and champion its adoption.
About you
We’re looking for a capable and collaborative leader with a passion for building strong data foundations. You’ll thrive in this role if you can demonstrate:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience in a data governance or data management role.
- Strong working knowledge of data governance and management standards such as ISO/IEC 38505, DMBOK, AESCSF, ISO 27001, and GDPR.
- DAMA certification or accreditation is highly regarded.
- Well-developed business acumen and senior stakeholder management skills.
- A collaborative, solutions-focused approach with sound decision-making ability.
- Strong negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Proven people and resource management experience.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in a clear and accessible way for a broad range of stakeholders.
