We are looking to hire a Senior Data Engineer in a Hybrid (60/40) capacity for our site in Mexico City. This is 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.

Position Overview:
As a Sr Data Engineer with the Enterprise Data Services (EDS) team at McCormick, you will play a pivotal role in delivering the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of data and analytics solutions from simple to complex and supporting McCormick business units with their data and analytics needs. Your responsibilities will include delivering and supporting analytics systems, tooling, and solutions, researching new features, developing innovative automations, supporting existing analytics solutions, and collaborating with third-party vendors. You will support Data Scientists and Data Analysts to convert business expectations into data solutions and data models usable by business to deliver analysis, reporting, and data-driven recommendations to stakeholders and executives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designing and implementing ELT systems on GCP platform. Integrating, harmonizing, and transforming data into datasets optimized for Vertex AI or Power BI consumption.
- Designing and creating pipelines to ingest data from different datasources and APIs, experience with streaming data processing is nice to have but not mandatory.
- Writing efficient and scalable code to transform and clean large volumes of data.
- Data Quality focus, ensuring data integrity and completion from source up to gold layer.
- Understanding and hands-on experience in securing company data assets.
- Performance tuning experience within the GCP environment: efficient code, data ingestion tuning and optimization.
The role reports to the GCP Analytics Product Owner and requires close collaboration with the Principal Data Engineer and the rest of the EDS team to conceptualize, visualize, and build an enterprise data management framework. Working closely with the EDS team to support and deliver in an agile manner and provide scrum master coverage as necessary is essential.
Requirements:
- Completed Bachelor's degree in computer science or other relevant discipline.
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on data architecture and data mapping.
- Proven experience with Google Cloud Platform toolset (Airflow, Spark, Cloud Storage, Data Loss Prevention, BigQuery, Vertex AI, Cloud Run).
- Hands-on experience with SQL, Python and/or Spark.
- Configuration of Airflow and creation of Data processing DAGs.
- Power BI knowledge at level that will allow smooth cooperation with Power BI Engineering team and business Power BI developers (Alternative for Power BI: Tableau, Looker).
- Data Engineer Certification required, Google Cloud Professional preferred.
- Knowledge of data analysis, visualization techniques, and frameworks.
- Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP).
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate.
- Experience working with Marketing data sets (preferred).
- Experience working in a food and beverage CPG environment (preferred).
- Experience with Agile methodologies and use of Azure DevOps to manage sprints (preferred).
- Expertise in working with other datasets in Azure, SAP and/or SAP BW (preferred).
- Experience in working with data cross-cloud (e.g. Azure) (preferred).
- Strong English skills with an ability to communicate with users across the spectrum of beginner to advanced technology skills, required.
