Job Description

Purpose of the role

To collect, clean, analyse, and visualise data to identify potential risks, assess compliance with regulations, and provide valuable insights to auditors. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and execution of data extraction strategies to gather relevant data from various sources, including internal systems, external databases, and third-party vendors.
  • Analysis of data to identify potential risks and control weaknesses.
  • Provision of data-driven insights and analysis to auditors throughout the audit process.
  • Supporting the development and testing of audit procedures based on data analysis results.
  • Implementation of data management processes to ensure data accessibility, security, and integrity.

Join as a Vice President within the Barclays Internal Audit (BIA) Data Analytics team. This team helps BIA use data insights to deliver high quality assurance and is a core part of BIA’s Strategy. This is achieved by delivering innovative solutions for audit testing; providing industry-leading training and coaching of data auditors; developing tools and applications to automate manual tasks and exploring new technologies and data science approaches to evolve how our assurance methods 

The main purpose of this role is to manage resources to support practical and innovative audit delivery using data analytics – driving continuous improvement through developing DA competencies, encouraging auditors delivering analytics, and automating repetitive tasks.  

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

  • Proven experience and knowledge of data analysis/data modelling – with SQL/Python/other.
  • Expert level hands on knowledge working with RDBMS (SQL), Python or equivalents.
  • Critical mind-set, and ability to challenge ideas to find the most appropriate solution.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly with regard to describing complex programming to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience interacting with senior management and ability to develop business cases, management presentations, reports, strategies etc.
  • Experience managing a team of technologists/business data analysts.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, balancing conflicting priorities.

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience of working in an Audit team / Audit function.
  • Experience working with financial services.
  • Experience training end users in data analysis technologies.
  • Experience with advanced data science/machine learning.
  • Experience with AWS/Alteryx technologies.
  • Experience developing self-service automations/dashboards/data models to simplify repetitive tasks.
  • Proven ability to quickly learn emerging data analytics technologies and use them on the job.
  • Proven ability of working through challenging problems and working independently to develop solutions to address business needs.
