The Team is responsible for Data sourcing, transformation, Integration, Quality and Availability. The team serves the customers of all Wealth business lines, including iTrade, Scotia McLeod, Private Investment Council and Scotia Trust. The team is known for excellence in delivery and support of many critical client facing and back-office applications.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
ETL Process Analysis, Design and Development
- Develop ETL code and build packages as per best practices and suggest improvements when possible.
- Lead development efforts in ingesting and transforming data from various sources. Building scripts, writing specifications and responsible for end-to-end delivery of data
- Develop and test code from design specifications, as well as implement and support enhancements to applications
- Provide technical expertise in medium to complex projects as a Technical Lead capable of providing guidance to junior members as needed.
- Has some hands-on experience working in an agile and kanban environment and organization standards.
- Works in close collaboration with Technical Business Analyst, Architects and other cross functional team members in creating design documents, outlining overview, diagrams, technical requirements and solution that best addresses a business needs.
- Participate in technical discussions, client meetings and presentation of solutions to the technical team members as well as Business
- Participate in code review of peers and junior team members and recommend suggestions for improvement where appropriate to ensure high quality product
ETL Processes Support, Testing & Deployment
- Participate in Unit, IST, UAT, regression testing on projects, as needed
- Prepare test cases and test scripts and assist in creating and retrieving required test data.
- Provide Release Management support and facilitation, ensuring all releases are delivered efficiently and without defect. Act as a liaison with other departments to create the release checklist, as required.
- Provide overnight and weekend support for project implementations and releases as needed. Pager support may be required.
- Assist in creating internal operation support manuals. Create support strategies and assist in post implementation shakedown testing, as required.
- Meet the SLA/SLO for incidents and project timelines.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
- 5+ years’ IT industry experience with ETL tools like Talend, DataStage, Informatica etc.
- 3 to 5+ years’ experience with relational databases with a good knowledge of SQL Scripting, database structures, principles and design theories.
- Hands-on experience with data integration, development using one or more tool and technologies like shell scripting, Java, AutoSys, Tidal.
- Familiar with Unix, Linux and Windows platforms.
- Experience with data sourcing, ETL and data integration.
- Hands on experience with MS Office Suite i.e., MS Outlook, MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Project
- Understanding of Database environment (i.e., relational, structural, etc.)
- Familiar with Dockers, Kubernetes
- Must be Curious, Open minded, willing to learn and question the status quo as required
- Strong Communication skills (Verbal and Written) in English
- Understand the Business requirements and translate it into technical specs.
- Articulation skills to convey the message across to various stakeholders.
- Think big picture instead of tunnel vision for the initiatives you are working on.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required
