PLM Senior Power BI Engineer

Ford Motor Company is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Power BI Engineer to contribute to the modernization and transformation of our PLM landscape. In this hands-on role, you will be a key member of a team responsible for migrating legacy, datacenter-based BI solutions to Power BI. You will work on the design, development, deployment, and maintenance BI applications, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.

As a Senior Power BI Engineer, you will leverage your deep knowledge and your experience with BI application migration to build and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable BI solutions. You will collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and operations teams to deliver high-quality cloud-based solutions.

• Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports.
• Build and manage data models, DAX calculations, and ETL processes for reporting and analytics.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate data needs into scalable BI solutions.
• Optimize performance of Power BI reports and dashboards to ensure efficiency and usability.
• Advise and implement best practices in data visualization, report design, and user experience with Power BI
• Work with SQL databases, data warehouses, and cloud-based BI tools to extract and transform data.
• Ensure data integrity, governance, and security in all reporting solutions.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior BI developers.
• Stay up to date with the latest Power BI advancements to enhance reporting capabilities.
• Work closely with cross functional applications to provide hands on help with the migrations from legacy BI tools to Power BI

• 10+ years total experience with 5+ years of hands-on experience in Power BI development, including DAX, Power Query, and data modeling.
• Knowledge with data modeling, schema design, and Big Query optimization 
• Proficiency with Google Cloud Platform Data Engineering services 
• Knowledge of data visualization best practices and UI/UX principles for BI solutions.
• Proficiency in scripting languages like SQL, Python for data transformation.
• Experience with performance tuning and optimization of BI dashboards and reports.
• A strong Individual contributor with analytical and problem-solving skills 
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders and present data insights effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience or Knowledge with Web Focus 8 or Business Objects BI tools
• Familiarity with REST APIs and integrating external data sources into Power BI.
• Power BI certification or advanced training.
• Knowledge of CI/CD and automation in BI development.
