Position Overview:
The Manager, Data Operations & Governance leads the data processes across both business and technology. This role will manage the end-to-end data operations, ensuring the efficient handling of data for its entire life cycle, and supporting business stakeholders for seamless reporting eco-system. Additionally, you will oversee the data governance framework that ensures accountability and stewardship of data throughout the company, aligning with scalability, performance, and maintainability needs. You will leverage your technical and business expertise to lead Canada Goose’ technological advancements and digital transformation.
What You'll Do:
Data Operations:
- Oversee data pipelines, ETL processes, and reporting frameworks to verify seamless data flow and availability.
- Work with cloud and on-premise data platforms for seamless data management.
- Maintain data flow and integrity throughout the Canada Goose reporting ecosystem, ensure data accessibility, consistency and accuracy across various systems.
- Work closely with business leaders to understand data needs and provide solutions.
- Partner cross functionally with stakeholders on different teams in performance of daily duties, enhance data integration and reporting capabilities and provide stakeholder support that helps business-making decisions.
- Monitor data operations process to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements. Develop and maintain internal and third-party data management strategies, incorporate industry best practices.
- Define requirements for data environments within company data platform, and ensure compliance with data acquisition, storage, and processing standards.
Data Governance:
- Lead the data governance framework, develop related policies and processes to align to the ownership and stewardship of Data across Canada Goose.
- Define data ownership and stewardship roles, implement data governance policies, standards, and best practices.
- Establish and maintain data quality frameworks, including data validation, cleansing, and monitoring.
- Oversee the data consent process, ensuring proper collection, documentation, and tracking of consent for various program executions.
- Ensure compliance with data regulations, security policies, and industry standards, in collaboration with Technology’s Risk, Governance and Compliance team.
- Align across established data privacy policies into operational processes, focusing on the management of personal identifying data.
- Ensure that data handling practices, including data residency, data sharing, comply with program-specific and regulatory requirements.
- Employ a data risk-based approach to identify potential data risks, establish mitigation plans, and classify residual risk ratings for each data risk factor.
- Facilitate and creation of synthetic data sets that closely mirror production data for testing and development purposes. Formulate strategies for test data management, including the application of data masking and anonymization techniques.
- Work in collaboration within and across delivery PODs to maintain consistency and integrity in Canada Goose’s data products & services.
Let's Talk About You:
- A post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Management, Business or relevant experience.
- 5+ years of experience in data operations, data governance, or data management roles.
- Strong understanding of data architecture, data quality, and data governance principles.
- Proficiency in data management tools, databases, and cloud platforms. Microsoft Purview is a plus.
- Experience with regulatory compliance requirements related to data governance. Familiarity with data privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA.
- Knowledge of Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate).
- Experience with business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau or Looker. Power BI is a plus.
- Knowledge of SQL, Python, or other data processing languages.
- Certification in Microsoft D365 and Fabric is a plus.
