Data Governance is a strategic focus of Goldman Sachs, and you will be a key addition to the GSBE engineering team and responsible for Data Governance in GSBE, working closely with the senior management in GSBE and the firmwide Data Governance Program.
Your impact:
As a Data Governance Specialist you will be supporting the GSBE Data Governance Officer in the implementation and execution of the GSBE’s data governance framework. This role involves working with various stakeholders across the organization to ensure data quality, compliance, and effective data management practices. The individual will assist in developing and maintaining data governance policies, standards, and procedures, as well as monitoring adherence to these guidelines.
Role and Responsibilities
- Data Governance Framework Support: Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the bank's data governance framework, including policies, standards, and procedures.
- Data Quality Management: Monitor and analyze data quality metrics, identify data quality issues, and work with data owners and stewards to develop and implement remediation plans.
- Data Stewardship Support: Support data stewards in their roles and responsibilities, providing guidance and assistance in data-related activities.
- Data Policy and Standards Enforcement: Monitor compliance with data governance policies and standards, and report any deviations to the Data Governance Manager/Lead.
- Data Documentation: Assist in the development and maintenance of data dictionaries, data catalogs, and other data documentation.
- Data Issue Resolution: Participate in the investigation and resolution of data-related issues, working with relevant stakeholders to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Data Training and Awareness: Assist in the development and delivery of data governance training programs to promote data awareness and understanding across the organization.
- Regulatory Compliance: Support efforts to ensure that data management practices comply with relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., CCPA, BCBS 239).
- Collaboration: Work closely with IT, business units, risk management, and compliance teams to ensure alignment on data governance initiatives.
- Reporting: Prepare reports on data governance activities, data quality metrics, and compliance status for management review.
- Data Lineage: Create and maintain data lineage documentation to understand the flow of data across various systems.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's or master’s degree in a related field (e.g., Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, Finance).
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in data management, data governance, or a related field.
- Knowledge:
- Understanding of data governance principles and practices.
- Familiarity with data quality management methodologies.
- Knowledge of data management tools and technologies (e.g., data catalogs, data lineage tools, data quality monitoring tools).
- Awareness of relevant data regulations (e.g. BCBS 239, Basel III).
- Familiarity with banking operations and data requirements is highly desirable.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Basic SQL skills for data analysis.
- Certifications (Preferred): Data Management certifications (e.g., DAMA CDMP) are a plus.
