Senior Software Engineer, Autonomy
Parallel is seeking an experienced technical leader to own and drive our autonomy program. In this role, you’ll be responsible for integrating various components of our autonomy stack while building and leading a small team of talented engineers. This role combines systems integration expertise with hands-on AI development, requiring both strong technical depth and leadership capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Own the entire autonomy product lifecycle, from design and development to testing and deployment
- Integrate autonomy hardware and software into the Parallel vehicle
- Manage autonomy system requirements and lead system testing to ensure compliance
- Build and mentor a small team of engineers
- Contribute actively to software architecture as a hands-on technical lead
- Drive technical decision-making for autonomy systems based on industry best practices
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 5+ years of experience in autonomous systems, robotics, or related fields
- Strong programming skills in systems-level languages (C, C++, or Rust)
- Experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX
- Familiarity with AV sensor technologies including cameras, LiDAR, radar, and ultrasonic sensors
- Track record of successfully shipping complex software systems on time
- Experience leading technical teams or projects
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science or similar Engineering discipline
- Experience with perception, prediction, or planning components of autonomy stacks
- Experience developing with Rust, especially in embedded platforms
- Knowledge of ROS (Robot Operating System) or similar frameworks
- Experience with sensor fusion and calibration
- Understanding of safety-critical software design principles

Final salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s final level. Also, this range represents base salary only and does not include equity or benefits, if applicable.
