Data Lab Indonesia is WRI Indonesia’s core unit for data innovation, technology and product development in Indonesia. Job Highlight

The Data Visualization Designer will support Data Lab Indonesia in developing engaging and impactful creative materials that align with its mission and strategic objectives. This includes producing high-quality visual design assets for a variety of communication channels, such as websites, infographics, blogs, social media, publications, media relations, and events—both under the Data Lab Indonesia platform and WRI Indonesia’s broader communication ecosystem.

 

Under direct supervision of T Engagement and Research Analyst, the Data Visualization Designer will work closely and proactively with the Data Lab Indonesia team, as well as collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistency in messaging and branding across platforms. This position will be based in Jakarta with office-flex working arrangement and required to do travel as assigned. What You Will Do

The Data Visualization Designer will work closely with the Data Lab Indonesia team to perform the following tasks:

Communications Product

  • Translate complex datasets into engaging, intuitive, and visually compelling narratives, supporting Data Lab Indonesia’s mission through creative data storytelling and visual communication.
  • Design and develop engaging visual materials—across print, digital, and motion formats—that creatively communicate key messages and data-driven stories to diverse audiences.
  • Develop and format data-driven visual content for various platforms—including events, presentations, social media, and the web—such as infographics, interactive graphics, motion visuals, reports, and slide decks.
  • Ensure all communications materials comply with WRI’s brand guidelines.
  • Support the visual development process by contributing design expertise, refining visual outputs, and ensuring alignment with data visualization standards for program teams.
  • Create functional prototypes of interactive visualizations or digital products using intuitive no-code or low-code tools, enabling quick iteration and collaborative feedback across teams.
  • Perform advanced photo & video editing (e.g., noise reduction, tonal correction, adobe premiere, capcut, etc) and manage image & video sourcing and organization.
  • Work with the team to ensure printed materials meet quality standards and reflect consistent branding, in coordination with printing vendors when needed.
  • Assist with ad-hoc data visualization tasks as requested and approved by the Manager or Supervisor, ensuring accuracy and alignment with Data Lab Indonesia and WRI’s brand guidelines and standards

 

Project Management

  • Contribute to creative projects by collaborating with the Data Lab Indonesia team and external partners to ensure high-quality visual outputs and data-driven designs
  • Support team efforts in delivering creative projects by actively participating in the design process and ensuring cohesive visual outcomes

 

Outreach and Online Engagement

  • Work closely with team members to create and refine visual assets for website content that align with project goals and brand identity;
  • Coordinate, develop and execute creative ideas for a variety of internal and external materials, such as blog posts, media materials, newsletters, op-eds, website content, and more;
  • Support the development of visual content for WRI Indonesia-related social media platforms—including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube—by creating engaging visuals and ensuring alignment with WRI’s brand guidelines and communication objectives
  • Collaborate with the team to organize vendor information and support the review of creative outputs to ensure consistency and quality
  • Work with the team to develop branded marketing materials, ensuring visual consistency and creative alignment across campaigns.

 

What You Will Need

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, fine arts, media and communications or related fields
  • Minimum 3-years’ of experience in graphic design or related areas
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in data visualizations with understanding of appropriate chart types; familiar with Tableau, Power BI, Flourish and/or other data visualization tools
  • Familiarity with designing and prototyping interactive data visualizations or digital products using no-code/low-code platforms (Figma, Webflow, Glide, Tableau, Power BI, Retool)
  • Excellent command of Adobe CC suite i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills, i.e. MS PowerPoint, MS Word, and Excel
  • Ability to produce high-quality draft of communications products with minimal supervision
  • Ability to support communications planning decision and carry out follow-up actions
  • Ability to coordinate efforts internally with other teams within the organization
  • Comfortable engaging and coordinating with a range of stakeholders at the national, sub-national, and international levels.
  • Possess strong visual design skills, creative, and analytical thinking Ability to work with different teams, conduct field travel, and deliver to deadlines
  • Legally able to work in Indonesia

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in using video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut) and experience in video editing projects
  • Basic photography skills
  • Strong communication skills with fluency in written and spoken Indonesian and English
  • Basic understanding of front-end user interface and human-computer interaction from a design perspective
  • Experience working in the creative marketing field

 

Performance Standard

  • Demonstrate ability to work effectively in a fast-paced office environment, both independently and as part of a global team
  • Good inter-personal communication skills, including the ability to encourage collaboration with other programs, international offices, and partners
  • Ability to think creatively and collaboratively about all elements of communications work

 

Deliverables

  1. All requested creative materials for Data Lab Indonesia (social media graphics, infographics, charts for website and publications, video, etc) are 100% completed and delivered in a timely and satisfactory manner in line with agreed creative briefs.
  2. Documentation of all final creative outputs (including editable source files) are properly stored in designated shared folders following established file naming and archiving protocols for easy access.
  3. Incorporate feedback and deliver revised versions of creative products within the agreed revision timeline
  4. All creative materials adhere to WRI Indonesia’s branding guidelines, including use of logos and color schemes.

 

Durations

1 May 2025 – 31 December 2025

 

Terms of Payment 

Daily rate consultant with a maximum of 144 (one hundred forty-four) working days for the whole contract period or 18 (eighteen) working days per month on average.

 

Contract Arrangement

Individual consultancy contract (Part-time, limited term)

Must have authorization to work in Indonesia to be eligible for this position.
