Overview Of Position

Certified Tableau Developer with 8+ years of experience in data visualization and analytics, specializing in storytelling techniques and analytical data modeling using structured and unstructured data. The ideal candidate is an expert in Tableau, experienced in translating user needs into technical requirements, and proficient in SQL, ETL tools, and Python. They should have Tableau Cloud Server experience, a strong understanding of data management principles, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in dashboards and data sources. This role focuses on leveraging data insights to enhance the coach and client experience.

Job Responsibilities

1. Develop and maintain visualizations and storyboards through Tableau
2. Curate and maintain data and data pipelines to support reporting
3. Develop ad hoc extract requests using SQL 
4. Use best practices to leverage, when enabling and maintaining Tableau
5. Assist the Insights Center Manager to maintain Data Access Control and Change Management model in Tableau
6. Work with the Data Governance Team to ensure that the Data Dictionary and Lineage maintained by them are accurate for Tableau
7. Be active in communications with business users and data management resources to collaborate through a project lifecycle as data changes occur
8. Coordinate with offshore technical resources

Scope

The BI Engineer III reports to the Manager of BI with no direct reports and functions as a full-stack BI expert, supporting analytics and reporting across the organization. This role is responsible for designing scalable Tableau dashboards, managing ETL pipelines, and optimizing data models within an enterprise BI environment. The position supports multiple business units, handling large data volumes and collaborating with cross-functional and offshore teams. Preferred work locations are Baltimore or Lehi, with a hybrid work model.

Knowledge, Education, Skills & Abilities

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, information systems, business analytics, or related field
• 8+ years of experience in business intelligence, data engineering, data science, or related field
• Experience in consumer goods, e-commerce, or related industries is preferred.
• Expertise in designing intuitive, insight-driven dashboards with a strong focus on user experience.
• Expertise in data warehouse design, development methodologies, and best practices, including data modeling, schema design, and performance optimization to support scalable analytics and reporting.
• Advanced experience developing and managing ETL pipelines using Informatica IICS or SSIS, with a strong understanding of data transformation, reconciliation, and integration processes to ensure accurate, well-structured data for analytics.
• Advanced experience with Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server/Online, including dashboard development, administration, and performance optimization.
• Advanced SQL skills (T-SQL, NoSQL) (interpret database design, querying, performance management, etc.).
• Experience with AWS Redshift, MSSQL, AuroraDB, S3, and RDS. 
• Experience with Python or R for analytics and automation.
• Skilled in gathering and documenting business needs, translating them into user stories, and refining them into technical requirements for development.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work alongside cross-functional teams.
• Ability to troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance reporting to provide insights for strategic decision-making.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, outcomes-driven environment with minimal supervision.
• Comfortable working in a global organization, collaborating with offshore development teams.
