Technology Data Analyst

In the Office of Data that’s just what we’re doing; building both our strategy for data and our governance and management framework to support it. 

We use our data for all manner of critical reporting, processes and decision making to help deliver water and take away waste from our millions of customers every day. Our new framework will ensure we have a comprehensive view of how data is currently used and its future intent to identify and resolve data related issues and to maximise our ability to deliver data related opportunities. As one of the Office of Data team you’ll be a key component to the future success of the team. 

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Within the office of Data, we’re looking for a Technology Data Analyst who can come in and add experience to our existing team.  In this role, you’ll design, deliver, embed and operate the data framework and support the delivery of our data strategy. You’ll be responsible for designing and building elements of the framework, which might include policies, standards, processes etc.., as well as later using what you’ve built to operate our data governance and management processes, using your data analysis skills to make sure we’re making the best use of our data via the framework. 

You’ll be gathering information by liaising with both technical and non-technical members of our data community, investigating data quality from ingestion to end user presentation, assessing risks and opportunities, building metrics and reporting, and influencing outside of the team to ensure adherence to the framework.  

We’re also looking for something with a passion for and knowledge of artificial intelligence. As guardians of our AI governance processes, we want someone to support with managing, maturing and improving that governance to ensure we’re getting the most out of AI while balancing the risks it could present an organisation responsible for delivering one of life’s essentials.  

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

You’ll join the team with strong data skills, including a good understanding of data modelling, high data literacy, knowledge of how different data can be related, improved, used, and applied, and the ability to manipulate and investigate large volumes of data, with excellent bespoke reporting skills.

To be successful, you’ll need strong interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills with experience of stakeholder management. You’ll have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into non- technical terms.

Finally, you should be able to complete appropriate high-level analysis, evaluation and modelling to ensure we understand and identify risks, issues and opportunities relating to the provision or use of data, and be able to source, collect and extract data that is accurate and fit for purpose.
