Dark Wolf Solutions is seeking talented and passionate Data Engineers to join our dynamic team. This multi-level opportunity provides a platform for professional development and advancement, allowing you to contribute to impactful data solutions. We're looking for individuals dedicated to designing, building, and maintaining robust data pipelines and infrastructure. These roles require a Top Secret security clearance and on-site support in Omaha, NE. 

Level 1: Data Engineer - Journeyman

As a Journeyman Data Engineer, you'll be responsible for assisting in various systems engineering activities related to data infrastructure and IT. You'll contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines and participate in ensuring the effective conversion of product requirements into total system solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform Systems Engineering activities related to Information Technology or Engineering including: concept of operations formulation, requirements definition, analysis and engineering, system architecting, system analysis and design, interface and data architectures, validation and verification, systems integration, system & op. performance analysis, Lifecycle cost analysis & estimation, decision analysis, and physical configuration analysis (PCA).
  • Assist in ensuring the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software or engineering specifications.
  • Provide specific, detailed information for selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
  • Support the design and implementation of data storage solutions, infrastructure management, backup and recovery strategies, and monitoring systems.
  • Participate in tasks relating to operating systems, directory services, identity management, access management, and automation.
  • Work under the guidance of senior engineers and architects to implement data solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 3-10 years of experience in a related IT or engineering role with exposure to data systems.
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL processes, and data modeling techniques.
  • Familiarity with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Scala).
  • Basic knowledge of database systems (SQL and/or NoSQL).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Level 2: Data Engineer - Senior

As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll take a leading role in designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and infrastructure. You'll be responsible for ensuring the performance, reliability, and scalability of our data systems, while also providing technical guidance to junior team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Systems Engineering activities related to Information Technology or Engineering including: concept of operations formulation, requirements definition, analysis and engineering, system architecting, system analysis and design, interface and data architectures, validation and verification, systems integration, system & op. performance analysis, Lifecycle cost analysis & estimation, decision analysis, and physical configuration analysis (PCA).

  • Optimize data pipelines for performance and scalability.
  • Mentor junior data engineers.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 10-16 years of experience in a data-related IT or engineering role.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL processes, and data modeling techniques.
  • Expertise in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Scala).
  • Extensive knowledge of database systems (SQL and NoSQL) and cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Proven ability to design and implement complex data pipelines.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

Level 3: Data Engineer - Subject Matter Expert (SME)

As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) Data Engineer, you'll be a recognized authority on data engineering principles and practices. You will provide strategic guidance, technical leadership, and mentorship to the entire team. You'll be responsible for driving innovation, ensuring our data infrastructure aligns with industry best practices, and shaping the future of our data capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic guidance and technical leadership on all aspects of data engineering.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on complex data-related issues.
  • Evaluate emerging data technologies and recommend their adoption within the organization.
  • Drive innovation in data architecture, data processing, and data storage.
  • Develop and enforce data standards and best practices.
  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable, resilient, and secure data infrastructure.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to senior data engineers.
  • Participate in industry events and contribute to the data engineering community.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 16+ years of experience in a data-related IT or engineering role.
  • Expert-level knowledge of data warehousing concepts, ETL processes, data modeling techniques, and data governance principles.
  • Deep expertise in multiple programming languages, database systems, and cloud data platforms.
  • Proven ability to lead and innovate in a data-driven environment.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Active participation in the data engineering community (e.g., publications, presentations).

This position is located in Omaha, NE. The estimated salary range for these positions are:
Mid - $90,000.00 - $125,000.00, commensurate on experience and technical skillset
Senior - $130,000.00 - $150,000.00, commensurate on experience and technical skillset
SME - $150,000.00 - $180,000.00, commensurate on experience and technical skillset
