Summary & Objective
The Financial Data Analyst is a member of the Finance team responsible for leveraging data analytics and financial systems to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial decision-making within a healthcare organization. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, expertise in financial data management, and proficiency in financial systems to ensure accurate reporting and data-driven insights. The position works collaboratively with the Vice President, Operational Excellence and other internal data analysts to drive efficiency while designing and delivering reporting and business intelligence solutions to Catholic Health Services. The primary responsibilities of the Financial Data Analyst involve using Microsoft Excel, Power BI, SQL and other data management tools to prepare, update and maintain reports and dashboards that enable the organization to monitor performance and drive continuous improvement.
Knowledge & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, data analytics, information systems, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in financial data analysis, budgeting, or systems management, preferably within a healthcare organization.
- Advanced proficiency working with large data sets and relational databases, ODBC, SQL, Power BI, and Excel (Pivot Tables, Macros, Power Query).
- Strong understanding of budgeting, financial modeling, cost accounting, and variance analysis.
- Experience with ETL processes and database management for financial reporting.
- Familiarity with machine learning or predictive analytics in financial forecasting is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with finance, IT, and operations teams.
- Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Ability to speak, read, write and understand the English language required.

Supervisory Responsibility
· No direct reports. Works collaboratively with other staff members.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, walk, climb stair or ladders, stand on feet for extended periods of time, etc.
Works in office environment with moderate to loud noise level.
Subject to frequent interruptions.
Work schedule may include working beyond typical schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Hand dexterity required for data entry on keyboard, requiring finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

Requirements
· Evaluates and analyzes capital expenditures, proposals, rate of return, operating records, financial statements and other financial records.
· Develops and maintains dashboards with drilldown capabilities to support leadership and operational decision making.
· Coordinates with other members of the finance and leadership team to review financial information.
· Extracts data from various data sources and transforms it into standard formats. Cleanses data and diagnoses data-related issues such as mismatches, formatting of values, and invalid characters; works with source-system owners to resolve.
· Maintains data crosswalks to correct data issues and aggregate data to ensure meaningful reporting.
· Produces key routine (weekly / monthly / quarterly) and ad-hoc data reporting and analysis for management and business units that facilitate decision-making.
· Performs testing to evaluate the quality and integrity of all reports and dashboards before publishing. Works with subject matter experts to understand the processes that created the data well enough to recognize data integrity and reporting issues.
· Maintains comprehensive process documentation for reports and dashboards to ensure business continuity.
· Write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, and technical documentation required.
· Supports end-users by conducting training sessions in MS Excel and other data systems; provides additional support as needed.
· Prepares accurate time estimates for projects and manages tasks to meet deadlines.
