The Data Science team consists of five highly skilled professionals, all dedicated to improving access to medicines by delivering critical data and insights that drive informed decision-making.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including data analysts, data engineers, product managers, and key business stakeholders—to develop scalable, data-driven solutions that scale.

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will play a key role in developing and deploying machine learning models that power business insights and operational efficiencies and support tactical and strategic decision-making across Abacus Medicine.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Proactively identify potential data science applications for value creation.
  • Design, develop, and deploy advanced models, including machine learning, deep learning, and algorithmic solutions, to solve complex business problems.
  • Analyze datasets to generate actionable insights, ensuring data-driven decision-making.
  • Design and maintain scalable MLOps pipelines for seamless model deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
  • Promote best practices in Data Science by optimizing workflows and expanding the DS/ML toolbox with tools that enhance model accuracy, runtime, and maintainability.
  • Strengthen our technical infrastructure by integrating modern technologies that enhance efficiency, scalability, and long-term maintainability.
  • Drive innovation by evaluating and integrating emerging ML/AI methodologies, including LLMs, to enhance model performance.
  • Translate complex model results into actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Share expertise through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and sparring sessions.
  • Helping shape the data science strategy and contributing to the broader Data & Analytics roadmap.

Fuel for your success in the role

We imagine you have:

  • Master’s degree in a data science-related field (e.g., computer science, cognitive science, IT, mathematics/statistics, economics).
  • 3+ years of experience in applied data science, with a strong focus on machine learning and predictive modeling.
  • Advanced Python programming skills.
  • Expertise in supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques.
  • Proficient in Data Science skills – ML frameworks (scikit-learn, deep learning frameworks), data wrangling, data analysis, and visualization.
  • Proficient in the following technologies: MLOps and model deployment, Cloud platform (e.g. Azure/AWS), mlflow, SQL, Spark, ETL processes, CI/CD processes, Linux commands, Web APIs, Git.
  • Excellent English communication skills with the ability to present complex data clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Show genuine care for both team dynamics and the success of the organization, fostering a positive and inclusive work culture.

    Preferred qualifications:
  • Databricks environment for building, deploying and managing ML models.
  • Leveraging LLMs for enhancing the performance of ML models through prompt engineering and embedding extraction
