Job Title: Lead Engineer – Data Analysis

Location: Glasgow

Salary from £60,800 to £76,000 + benefits

The postholder will provide leadership in the management of data related to the asset management functions of the SP Transmission business. They will analyse data, provide insights and lead engagement in industry working groups and collaborative activities across the business. They will be responsible for developing new methods to improve capability, advise on asset performance and risk while ensuring the efficient management of network assets and delivery of outputs.

What you’ll be doing

Management of significant volumes of data to enable development of strategic long-term asset risk plans and the management and review of these through effective communication with the transmission licence functions.


Leading the continuous improvement  of the Network Asset Risk Metric (NARM) methodology and reporting requirements during the RIIO Price Controls using a data driver approach.


Leading the development and implementation of adequate tools to properly manage network asset risk and annual reporting against the Baseline Risk Outputs.


Assess the network risk impact of changes in the asset management plan delivery and ensure that all variances are well documented and justified in line with the current regulatory framework.

Analyse diverse data sets across the SP Transmission business to ensure that asset intervention plans are well evidenced, reflective of the business need and reflect a cost-effective delivery which delivers benefit for the business and consumers. Develop network policies and strategies to achieve this in a coordinated manner.

Ensuring asset condition data is used consistently in SPT within the NARM methodology to inform asset management decisions and regulatory reporting obligations. Identify asset insights from the detailed assessment of asset data to inform our asset management approach.
 

The production of the NARM related annual regulatory reporting to ensure compliance with the Licence Obligations.
 

Engaging with key industry stakeholders on the technical development of asset modelling and network risk management, ensuring that SPEN’s position is well understood and viewed favourably.

Organising and planning workload across multiple simultaneous activities to align with deadlines and competing pressures from various parties.

What you’ll bring

The postholder will be a strong communicator (written and verbal) and be able to effectively present and report information to all, they will have good influencing and collaborative skills as well as excellent customer service to exceed expectations.


It is essential that the individual has an understanding and awareness of key business drivers and commercial context in which SPEN operates and can balance customer service, financial obligations and Environmental and safety priorities.

The individual will be comfortable managing and analysing large and diverse data sets and be comfortable presenting key metrics to influence business decision making.

Minimum Criteria

Degree in Electrical Engineering, data science or relevant experience.
 

Chartered membership of the IET or equivalent, or working towards this.
 

Expert knowledge of the NARM methodology and its application to the transmission
network.
 

Experience and knowledge of  physical assets and their management.
 

Experience in programming/coding, data management and presentation.
