This position will be a hybrid work arrangement, which translates to 3 days minimum per week in the office.

This Quantitative Analyst will join HarbourVest’s diverse, fast-growing Quantitative Investment Sciences team (QIS) that is focused on pioneering the application of quantitative research and data science to private markets investing and risk management.

As a member of the QIS team, you will conduct rigorous analysis of private market dynamics and trends and produce insights to support investment team diligence, respond to client inquiries, and generate thought leading content. You will harness a broad range of proprietary private market datasets and tools, and bring your creative, collaborative problem-solving skills to a rapid development environment.

The ideal candidate is someone who:

  • Has strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, and ability to quickly learn and develop familiarity with multiple large, complex datasets
  • Brings entrepreneurial initiative and independent critical thinking skills
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate across functions and levels within an organization
  • Can facilitate multiple detail-oriented projects at a given time and develop familiarity with multiple large, complex datasets
  • (Preferably) is familiar and experienced with agile software development methodologies and tools

What you will do:

  • Rigorously test investment hypotheses with private market datasets in support of investment diligence, response to client inquiries, and quantitative research projects
  • Develop quantitative analysis and visualizations to produce publishable insights and enrich external communications
  • Build strong working relationships with investment teams, platform users, and data engineers
  • And other responsibilities as required

What you bring:

  • Collaborative work style and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Flexibility and willingness to tackle a broad range of analysis, testing, and support assignments
  • Proficient in Python and SQL and experience conducting exploratory data analysis, applying statistical methods, and effective data visualization
  • Experience deriving actionable conclusions from statistical analysis and ability to communicate these results to quantitative and non-quantitative stakeholders
  • A track record of completed high-intensity, high-complexity projects

Education Preferred

  • Bachelor of Arts (B.A) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in a technical discipline

Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience in the investment management or FinTech industry is preferred
