Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior Data Architect & Security Lead to take ownership of designing, upgrading, and securing the data architecture of our cloud-based SaaS platform. We are looking for a candidate with a solid grasp of database design, data governance, and security standard methodologies. This role requires a balance between strategic vision and hands-on technical implementation to ensure scalability, performance, and compliance with security standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Architecture & Design: Develop and maintain a scalable and efficient data architecture for our SaaS platform, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Database Optimization: Design and implement database schemas, indexing strategies, and data partitioning to improve system efficiency. Understand the current data architecture and data layout to help investigate/analyze data related application issues.
  • Data Security & Compliance: Define and implement security policies, encryption standards, and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, SOC 2, HIPAA).
  • Infrastructure Modernization: Lead efforts to modernize data storage and processing pipelines, including cloud-based solutions (AWS, Azure).
  • ETL & Data Pipelines: Coordinate the development and optimization of ETL processes to handle large-scale data ingestion and processing.
  • Data Governance: Establish validated methods for data integrity, lifecycle management, and access control.
  • Security Leadership: Work closely with security teams to implement proactive measures against data breaches and vulnerabilities.
  • Multi-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with engineering, product, and DevOps teams to align data strategies with business goals.
  • Technology Evaluation: Stay up-to-date with the newest technologies and trends in data architecture and security, making recommendations for adoption.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in database architecture, data engineering, and security.
  • Strong expertise in SQL, NoSQL, and distributed databases (MySQL, MongoDB, etc.).
  • Familiarity with document DBs (e.g. AWS DynamoDB, Azure CosmosDB), columnar storage (Apache Cassandra), graph DBs (e.g. Neo4J).
  • Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (AWS RDS, Redshift, and others).
  • Working knowledge of Hibernate highly desirable
  • Knowledge of modern data lake and data warehouse architectures.
  • Experience with encryption, identity management, and data masking techniques.
  • Deep understanding of security frameworks such as OWASP, NIST, and CIS.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash) and automation tools for security and data management.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code (Ansible, Kubernetes).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several  U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $170,500 -- $320,000 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process.

At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans.  Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).

In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
