Here’s a summary of the role:    

Join YouGov’s US Sport Client Services team and help deliver impactful, data-driven insights to some of the most influential sports leagues, teams, agencies, and brands. 

The Graduate Analyst (Media & Data Products Track) will rotate through two of our core teams: Media and Syndicated. You will complete 6-month rotations through each team, gaining a well-rounded experience across YouGov’s media valuation and data products services. This structure is designed to develop versatile analysts prepared for future roles within any of our core teams. 

You will begin with the Media team, diving into media valuation projects to understand sponsorship impact and measurement methodologies. You will then rotate to the Syndicated team, deepening your knowledge of our Profiles and BrandIndex products, especially as it relates to all aspects of sponsorship strategy & ROI measurement, following your experience on the media valuation team.  

Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll do (not all of it, just the important stuff):  

  • Create searches and use bespoke media information tools to analyze relevant data and create media valuations for sponsor brands operating in sports. 
  • Perform advanced media valuation analyses and calculations in Microsoft Excel, using functions such as pivot tables, vlookups, etc.  
  • Investigate trends and quality check potential discrepancies and errors. 
  • Collect, collate and integrate data to tell a story throughout reports and directly to clients. 
  • Produce bespoke analyses and reports for clients; creating a clear narrative from the data that enables the client to make data-driven decisions. 
  • Proofread fellow analysts’ reports. 
  • Adhere to data management quality control processes to ensure accurate, consistent and a compliant delivery of data. 
  • Maintain dashboards and databases with the correct data and information. 
  • Become a data product expert by developing fluency in YouGov’s syndicated product suite - specifically in Profiles and BrandIndex, understanding the platforms’ data and functionality to guide clients effectively. 
  • Deliver insights & reporting for sports clients by creating and presenting recurring insights reports on brand health tracking, fanbase market sizing, audience profiling, sponsorships sales prospecting, sponsorship ROI measurement, and other core research needs. 
  • Analyze data & tell compelling stories by translating complex data into actionable insights that answer clients’ strategic business questions. 
  • Attend client meetings and collaborate with team members to problem solve with a variety of clients and stakeholders. 

These are the essentials you’ll need to get an interview:  

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (fields such as sports management, marketing, business, economics, psychology, statistics, market research, or analytics are a plus). 
  • Microsoft Office experience is essential, including Excel and PowerPoint to a high standard (i.e. vlookups, pivot tables and data filters).   
  • An enthusiasm for data and uncovering insights to guide strategy. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. Commitment to provide accurate data and relevant insights. 
  • An enthusiasm for writing of evaluation reports and data analyses across a broad range of media. 
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues on the team. Possess a good, clear writing style and understand different uses of tables, charts and commentary. 
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and hit deadlines in a fast-moving environment. 
  • A service-oriented mindset, with enthusiasm for working in a client-facing role. Adaptability and impartiality in managing diverse client needs and research tasks.                                        

It would be great if you had these to, but we’ll support you if you don’t: 

  • Prior experience as a researcher or analyst, or experience translating data into compelling stories. 
  • Exposure to client-facing projects or consulting. 
  • Experience in, or strong desire to learn about, the sports business industry.

For roles based in California, New York, Colorado or Washington State, the base salary hiring range for this position is USD 58,655 - USD 64,350   Compensation offered will be determined by multiple factors including location, job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
