Experimental Data Analysis & Measurements Intern
Paris
Alice & Bob
At Alice & Bob, we're building the first universal quantum computer. This is humanity's next challenge.
Alice & Bob is developing the first universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer to solve the world’s hardest problems. The quantum computer we envision building is based on a new kind of superconducting qubit: the Schrödinger cat qubit. In comparison to other superconducting platforms, cat qubits have the astonishing ability to implement quantum error correction autonomously! We are at the forefront of the quantum race, competing with tech giants such as Google or IBM, and we are growing fast after securing €100 million of funding in 2025 to develop our unique technology. Currently 100+ and counting, between physicists, PhD students, engineers and experienced business professionals, we are united to reach our ambitious goal. Are you a quantum pioneer? Join us on a mission to reshape the future!
We are seeking a motivated intern to join our Quantum Experimentalist department, contributing to cutting-edge research focused on advancing quantum computing. This internship will involve hands-on experimental work and data analysis, particularly in measurements of superconducting quantum systems. The goal of our team is to push quantum computing closer to the quantum advantage threshold by addressing key limiting factors such as various sources of noise. This role will provide you with the opportunity to contribute to the design of experiments and the development of new models, working closely with experienced quantum researchers.
You will join of one of the most innovative startups in France at an early stage, to be part of a passionate and friendly team on its mission to build the first universal quantum computer!
We love to share and learn from one another, so you will be certain to innovate, develop new ideas, and have the space to grow.

Responsibilities:
- Script Development & Automation; Write Python scripts and libraries to automate experimental data collection and analysis. Ensure code adheres to PEP8 standards, is well-organized, and supports smooth and efficient experimentation.
- Data Analysis & Visualization: Perform data treatment using numpy, scipy, and matplotlib. Conduct signal processing techniques such as Fourier transforms and noise filtering, and apply curve-fitting with various models to experimental data.
- Experimentation Support: Assist in the setup, calibration, and execution of measurements on superconducting quantum systems. Analyze the data to extract meaningful insights about flux noise and thermal photons.
- Collaborative Design: Work alongside the team to design new experiments and contribute ideas for improving the experimental setup. You will be encouraged to think critically about how to enhance measurement accuracy and efficiency.
- Documentation: Maintain clear and detailed records of experimental procedures, data analysis scripts, and results to ensure reproducibility and ease of future development.
Requirements:
- Programming Expertise: Strong Python programming skills, with experience in object-oriented programming (OOP), using numpy, scipy, and matplotlib. Familiarity with seaborn and pandas is a plus. You must demonstrate the ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
- Data Treatment Skills: Proficiency in data analysis techniques, particularly signal processing (Fourier transforms, filtering, noise reduction) and curve fitting. Experience with the scipy library for these processes is essential. Automation of these processes is key.
- Physics Knowledge: A solid understanding of physics, particularly in electrodynamics and radioelectronics. Knowledge of quantum mechanics is a plus but can be developed during the internship.
- Experimental Mindset: Enthusiasm for working in a lab environment. Previous experience with superconducting systems is not required but will be an asset. You will be encouraged to actively participate in designing and refining experiments.
- Problem Solving & Initiative: You should be proactive, analytical, and eager to tackle complex problems.
