The opportunity

You will work with Southern New Hampshire University's leadership team to promote university's mission in providing high quality, affordable higher education to diverse population of students, investigating the underlying factors that affect the equity among students, developing advanced tools to address the student need, and creating metrics for monitoring Equity, Diversity and Inclusion programs.

What you'll do:

  • Collaborate with DEI and Social Impact team to help prioritize and add structure to projects in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. This includes gathering qualitative and quantitative data throughout the university units, implementing a survey that generates applicable data, and defining metrics for success.
  • Work with several departments and teams like marketing, student experience, Finance, and Career to explore the challenges and opportunities presented by existing quantitative and qualitative data to increase enrollment, performance, representation, and outcomes from SNHU degree programs.
  • Use data science and machine learning methods to help design frameworks for understanding, supporting, and alleviating any/all pain points faced by our students, and provide them with the right place-right time intervention for their needs.
  • Use generative AI tools to analyze customer feedback, VoC, and transcript data to help shape our customer experience strategy, understand their challenges, identify triggers, evaluate the current support framework, suggest/implement changes to provide the best support to these students.
  • Identify/any disproportionate impact of existing automatic decisions and models on student populations. Make recommendations to senior leadership on harm reduction and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Support external grant-based projects on equity, diversity, and inclusion, including metric design, goal setting, and progress tracking.

What we're looking for:

  • 2+ years' experience in data science, with a focus on business development or strategy consultation.
  • Knowledge of applied statistics skills, such as statistical testing, propensity matching, statistical modeling, and classification.
  • Experience with machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Trees – GBM, XGBoost.
  • Experience with common data science toolkits, such as R, Python, Caret, PySpark, NumPy, etc.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) for structured and unstructured data analysis
  • Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL, and familiarity with dashboard applications like Power BI or others.
  • Data-oriented personality, combined with superior communication skills
  • Strong presentation and data storytelling skills with the ability to translate complex data insights into relevant business recommendations through visualizations and compelling narratives tailored to diverse partners.

Compensation

The annual pay range for this position is $83,071.00 - $132,940.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations. We expect this position to be hired in the following target hiring range $91,794.00 - $124,192.00.
