Astroscale UK is looking for a Summer Intern to work on developing strategy for the in-orbit servicing market and competitive analysis. The successful candidate will map industry landscape and competitive dynamics, as well as synthesize market research to inform strategy decisions. Their analysis will support strategy discussions for the ASUK leadership team. This is a unique opportunity for a student to become embedded in a strategic role, while learning the ins and outs of the space sustainability and in-orbit servicing industries. 

 


Responsibilities 

 

  • Map and understand industry landscape and competitive dynamics 
  • Gather and synthesize market research to inform ASUK leadership strategy decisions 
  • Develop business cases to further space sustainability and in-orbit servicing markets  
  • Assess mission costs and model financial indicators 

 


Essential Skills

 

  • Possesses/is pursuing an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in economics, finance, business, management, or a STEM field 
  • Passionate about space with knowledge of the space environment and space debris 
  • Analytical mindset and strong quantitative skills – ability to think critically and creatively 
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and willing to take initiative 
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and written/verbal communication skills including to both technical and non-technical audiences 
  • Creative problem solver who can leverage information from multiple domains which might include business operations, engineering, astrodynamics, statistics, and/or economics 

 


Desirable skills 


  • Experience conducting economic research, financial modelling/analysis 
  • Experience managing and curating data sets 
  • Experience or knowledge in the following areas: debris removal, in-orbit maintenance or servicing, space situational awareness 
  • Knowledge of Python or PowerBI
