Reporting into the Enterprise Data Enablement function in Operations of the London Stock Exchange Group (“LSEG”), this Data Governance Manager role will be skilled at leading and managing people, processes, and technology efficiently so that LSEG can implement and operationalize the Enterprise Data Governance Program.
Within the Enterprise Data Enablement function, the Data Governance Office (DGO) develops and implements a policy framework that enables the organization to continuously improve its data management capabilities, so that LSEG produces better products and services.
The main purpose of this position is to act as a data governance subject matter expert (SME), institutionalize, operationalize, and implement the data governance framework
The primary role of this manager is to build and refine Data Governance capabilities and, pursue and increase adoption across LSEG.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a Manager and SME on data governance and key principles while using industry best practices to improve efficiencies, risk reduction, identify business opportunities and growth in support of the LSEG mission
- Drive the enterprise data governance adoption roadmap including strategic priorities for development of data governance as a service for our businesses and corporate functions
- Develop and maintain the data governance operating model to support both the Group and Divisions
- Serve as a business partner and custodian of overall adoption of data governance best practices
- Defining, refreshing and implementing policies and standards, governance metrics, and any relevant data governance processes while supporting the use of related tools
- Liaison between Divisions and supporting services to ensure that data related business requirements are clearly defined, communicated, well understood and considered as part of operational prioritisation and planning
- Act as a lead data governance subject matter expert, chairing relevant forums and implementing data governance principles across the organisation
- Support Divisions and Group functions in complying with operational regulatory requirements (data privacy, data protection, information security, risk management, etc.)
- Contribute to the development of data management capabilities such as metadata management, data quality management
- Ensure that data governance tooling solutions are fit for purpose and in line with the principles outlined in relevant data governance policy documents
- Partner with other capability and tooling leaders including Collibra, LEANIX, and other senior collaborators to satisfy business priorities
- Liaise with business and technology to capture use cases and requirements on an on-going basis
- Develop procedures and other internal content to help train the business in embracing data governance principles
- Manage staff at various levels including responsibilities to on-board, train, educate, mentor, and off-board, as necessary
- Review of the current data policy framework including the charter, group data policy, standards, procedures and playbooks, and acts as an implementation guide to business partners and corporate functions
- Champion the planning, supporting materials, adoption, and reporting for Group Data Policy conformance and the related control(s) framework
- Support change management projects as a lead SME, facilitator, decision-maker, and developer of content and other pertinent materials
- Provide review and consultation for the data literacy, education, and training activities related to the data governance discipline
- Support the metadata strategy to include business data dictionaries, glossaries, and catalogs for use within LSEG, as needed
- Support input into the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), metrics and other management reporting needs related to data governance capabilities
Key Behaviors and Skills Required to be successful in the Role
Working Experience
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a major services organization, with data or project management and oversight experience.
- In-depth knowledge of data governance industry best practices and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Standards, and other governing bodies relevant to the role
- Experience working collaboratively with partners from other functional areas on data governance initiatives
- Experience with risk management, controls, data architecture and technology solutions
- Comprehensive experience documenting and managing issues related to data governance.
Education
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Management, or Information Sciences
- Data Quality, Management, IT, Data Science or Governance training or other relevant Certifications
