Data Specialist

Role Overview:

As a Data Specialist, you will ensure the timely and accurate data capturing and production of all automotive data. In this role, you will collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver actionable insights that meet business needs. Additionally, you play a key role in optimising data processes, ensuring high data quality to support strategic business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to understand data needs and requirements.
• Understanding processes (data flow) and syncing external incoming data
• Oversee the complete ETL (extract Transform Load) process.
• Report any failures, issues, and defects via our JATO reporting tool.
• Analyse and translate business needs into comprehensive data models, including conceptual, logical, and physical models.
• Design and implement data models for various applications, such as data warehouses, data marts, and operational databases, utilizing diverse technologies like relational, dimensional, and NoSQL databases.
• Develop and maintain data modelling standards and best practices to ensure data consistency and quality.
• Document and maintain data models for future reference and knowledge transfer.
• Perform data quality assessments and identify opportunities for data cleansing and optimization.
• Database backups and house keeping to ensure the timely and accurate data capturing & production of all data. Ensuring all service level agreements are met and improved where possible.
• Work closely with developers and data engineers to ensure smooth data integration and implementation.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest data modelling trends and technologies.

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Knowledge of networks and FTP tools.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Power BI, Python and SQL.
• Experience with data modelling tools (e.g., SQL Database, ERBuilder).
• Experience with data governance frameworks.
• Understanding of data warehousing and business intelligence concepts.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Must have exceptional communication skills, verbal and written in English.
• A flexible, professional attitude with the ability to support change management processes when and if necessary.
• The ability to prioritize workloads and respond to tight deadlines.
• Knowledge of the local car market and a working knowledge of the terms used to describe vehicles would be an asset but not essential.
