Your Role 

As a Senior Developer in the Group Actuarial, Finance team, you will play a crucial role in developing, enhancing and testing the underlying data to help facilitate the teams understanding and key decision-making processes relating to the Group’s risks. You will support Executive and Senior Business leaders across Australia, New Zealand, and IAG’s Asian Joint Ventures.  

This position involves building a centralised and trusted data pipeline (project Forward) which provides data to analytical and actuarial community across IAG. This will not only allow you to develop and have input at a data level but also help to build your key business knowledge in the insurance industry. The data we are developing is the key to many different areas at IAG which can open many paths beyond the initial data builds and scope outlined above. Learn from the experienced team already on hand and feel welcomed to add in your own expertise and knowledge so that we all can grow and learn together. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Build and maintain strong relationships within the Technology and Actuarial communities. 
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather and comprehend necessary support. 
• Offer practical advice backed by technical knowledge and results to aid business decisions. 
• Conduct technical analysis, development, testing and reconciliations. 
• Efficiently complete processes and projects with minimal guidance, suggesting and implementing improvements where appropriate. 

This is a 24-month Fixed term opportunity, open to candidates based anywhere in Australia. 

About You 

The ideal candidate will have: 

• At least 3 years of practical experience in analyzing complex data, preferably in General Insurance Actuarial roles. 
• Strong proficiency in DBT and deep understanding of its core concepts and functionalities. 
• Proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases. 
• Strong programming skills in Python or other relevant languages for data engineering 
• Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms, such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure 
• Proven experience in stakeholder management. 
• Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant technical discipline, such as Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Finance, Programming or Engineering.
